Ok it’s already 9:30 and I’m just now starting this post. Usually, I have them finished around 9pm, so I’m clearly a bit late tonight. It was a full day, but I’m exhausted, so my writing will (hopefully) be short & sweet, with lots of photos….
Happy girl before breakfast.
“Helping” with breakfast.
When we sat down for breakfast, unprompted, Emerson started praying. I grabbed my phone so fast & asked her to say it again, and I just barely got it! She’s saying “thank you food.” 😍♥️😍♥️ It was the sweetest thing ever!! I don’t know if this link to the video will work, but I’m going to try… Click here. Update – the link didn’t work 😏
Ready for errands!
She found all the things whole thrift shopping. But we only got one record, and one thing of those stamper paint thingies.
We discovered when you grocery shop on the North side of town, instead of the college side (where we live) there are buggy cars and the cashier’s give out balloons and coloring sheets.
We grabbed lunch in the deli, and Emmie ate her popcorn chicken right in her car 😂
Jeff doesn’t like Pub Subs (what a weirdo, right?!), so we never get them. Today I got a Boar’s Head Italian on the 5-grain bread, and could barely contain myself it was so delicious.
We got home from our errands late, and I got Emmie down right away for her nap, and then got dinner going in the Crock-Pot. First screenshot is the recipe I used. (This was the third time I’ve made it, and we love it.)
Emmie slept for about two hours. I washed dishes and did chores, and Jeff did yard work. Then we colored and played for a while…
I took photos of our banana trees (which I love) to send to our friends, after talking to them about them earlier today; toddler for scale…
She wanted to stay outside and watch daddy, even though we were dripping sweat just watching, and being surrounded by no-see-ums. (Also, she is obsessed with her “phones.”)
Then Grammy and Papa came over for dinner! She brought boiled peanuts, and taught Emmie how to eat them right out out of the shell.
“Helping” me cook again.
Delicious swedish meatballs! Recipe says to serve over rice or mashed potatoes, but I like egg noodles best for this dish.
And the recipe makes lots of leftovers, even after four adults ate dinner!
Grammy and I did bath time for Emmie, and then she was just acting so super crazy and silly and funny, and we were laughing at her so very much.
The grandparents snuck out at bedtime, and Emmie wrapped up her baby to sleep on this quilt in her room. (The quilt was passed down to me by my Grandmommie, but it was made by her mother!)
Quick update – it was one year ago today that Emerson had surgery to remove a strange growth of cartilage from the side of her neck. Read the full explanation & back-story this blog, surgery day on this post, and recovery the next day here. It’s healed up great, and you can barely see a tiny scar there now. Praise the Lord!
She was difficult to get to sleep tonight, too riled up and she wanted daddy but he was exhausted from yard work, but I finally did it. Then I threw together this recipe for raspberry french toast casserole, which I’m taking to Sunday school for our class breakfast tomorrow. It looks delish, and I hope it turns out good! (P.s. – this is one of my favorite food bloggers, and I’ve made lots of her recipes.)
It will bake in the morning, then get “dusted” with confectioners sugar. Yum! Can’t wait to try it tomorrow! And now it’s almost 10pm, and almost time for bed….
