Five Hundred

We started the morning by baking a can of Pillsbury chocolate chip biscuits, and Emmie sampled a little spoonful of the icing while I spread it on the biscuits.

Her temp hovered right around 99 or 100 all day, and never got higher than like 100.2. Which is technically still a low-grade fever, so it’s good she wasn’t around other kids today. But she acted fine, and was her normal peppy self, so we had a good day together!

She read her book while I made a grocery list.

And then we went on a little mid-morning field trip adventure, to San Luis park, right down the street in our neighborhood. We just walked around, and walked up and down the boardwalk of the little pond, but Emerson had an absolute blast! She was enthralled with the water, and loved looking at it. We only stayed for about 20-ish minutes, but we really enjoyed our short park adventure!

After the park, we filled up my car with gas, and picked up our Walmart grocery order, and then came back home for Emmie’s lunch and nap time.

While Emerson napped, I ate lunch myself, watched a little tv, and also did some cleaning and such around the house. And then Grandmommie came over to spend time with us! Emmie was so excited to see her, and so was I! It was nice to have her around, and spend time together. We played and read at the house for a while, and then we went back out around town.

Oh wait, quick interjection…. This is one of my three total house plants, but it’s starting to struggle. It’s a peperomia my old neighbor gifted to me as a clipping she grew from her plant, and honestly I’m so proud (and shocked/impressed) I’ve kept it alive the last 3.5 years. I re-potted it to a bigger pot a few months ago, and it did well. It even has some new leaf growth.

But the last week or so, the stems have started just falling over (below you can see one stem standing straight up like normal, and the other two have fallen down), and laying limp. And I don’t know what to do! Is this the kind of plant that is only supposed to grow so tall, and then I clip it down? I don’t know! Can anyone help? I’ve tried to Google (and even messaged a blogger girl I follow on Instagram who’s great with plants), but I can’t quite seem to find anything helpful….

Ok back to our day now… Emmie wanted some more stroller rides, so we took turns pushing her around the house for a bit.

And then we went to my favorite thrift shop for books and records, The Living Harvest, on Tharpe Street. Today I only got records, but I got eight, and they’re only $1 each!

We also took a quick trip to Bealls outlet, where Emerson found a “pack back” she just had to have, so Grandmommie got it for her. Plus, it was only $7!

The combination of the backpack and the tennis shoes makes her look like she’s five years old all of a sudden!

And here are my records I got today – five classic soundtracks, one Frank Sinatra, and two Perry Como Christmas. We love Perry Como, and he’s actually my grandmother’s very favorite!

We had a little bit more time at home with Grandmommie, so we put on a “new” record, and Emmie had a snack and played with her back pack.

And then this month’s Grove box came. New dish scrubber replacement heads, chapstick, and a new Mrs. Meyer’s scent. If you want to try out Grove for yourself, click here for $35 worth of free stuff, and I’ll get $10 off my next order too!

And then we went over for dinner at Jeff’s parents house. She just ordered Chinese food, so we could stay in and keep it easy and chill. Plus, we all love Chinese food!

Emmie wore her new “pack back” almost all night, all over the house, then sat with it in her lap on the ride home.

By the time we got home, it was a little after 8pm, and this poor baby was exhausted! But she wanted to sleep in the outfit she wore all day, which was sweaty, and had dinner stains on it, but it’s not a battle worth fighting! So we’ll just change her sheets tomorrow 😉

She still never got a “real fever” all day, so I’d say that’s a good thing, and we’re getting better! She fell asleep super easy tonight, after just three lullabies, and she was out like a light.

I’m pretty exhausted myself now too, so we’re gonna make some hot tea (it’s becoming our nightly habit, which seems strange in the dead of summer), and make sure we don’t stay up too late.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention, this is my 500th post on Pullen’s Cozy Corner, which just seems crazy, but wow! I write this for myself, and my family, but I’m glad all of y’all are here reading too, so thank you for reading every day. Night friends!
