Y’all know Emerson has a snack every morning at home, before we leave for school. Sometimes that’s just a few bites of a granola bar, or sometimes it’s a cookie. Today she had a small bag of Goldfish, and we took it to-go in the car. She wanted to take it into school with her as well, but then she quickly traded it for a muffin instead!
I had the last little bit of last night’s delicious leftovers for my lunch today. This may have only been my third time using my IP, but this is one of the best roast beef recipes I’ve ever had (the tang from the spices & the banana peppers just add so much good flavor!), and so I think this will definitely be made again. I brought a new library book to start reading, but then I just didn’t feel like it, and I’ll probably return the book un-read. Instead, I started the read/listen of the fourth short story in the “Forward” collection, using Audible and my Kindle phone app.
Only one photo from school today, but she had a good day!
So a little while back, Jeff applied for this cyber security training course thing, and also a banking security thing (tech stuff, I don’t know…) and just a couple of weeks ago, he found out he was accepted to both! The first one is this week at FSU (backed by Homeland Security or something?!), and the second one is for a week at the end of October, in Miami! They will pay for his flight & hotel, and even give him money for meals while he’s there. So cool huh!? It will give him one more certification to add to his IT belt, so that’ll be really good for him in the long run. And I’m so proud of him for getting accepted to both programs!
So, this week, he’s taking the course down near the FSU Rez, which is less than 10 minutes from our house, which is obviously super convenient. Today, they finished up early for the day around 4:15pm (it was scheduled to go until 5pm), so he went on out to daycare to pick up Emmie, so I could just come straight home after work, and be home 30 minutes earlier than usual!
While Daddy and Emerson played together (they got the mail, took out the recycling, walked around the backyard, etc…), I put together my current obsession for dinner, “Lacey’s pizza.” (Described in more detail in this blog post from two weeks ago.)
I had ordered “regular” size pizza crust in my grocery order the other day, but it got substituted for the mini-sized crusts. So I made Jeff and I each our own pizzas, which actually works out better, since he prefers his pizza without mushrooms anyways. I cooked us each a pizza for dinner tonight, and then stuck two more in the oven, so we could take them to work tomorrow. Yum! Already so excited to eat it tomorrow!
Grandmommie got her these special Yoohoo drinks, and she loves them so much! (She bought a whole pack to keep as special treats at their new house, but sent one home with us and we let her have it tonight.)
We still had a couple cupcakes left from dinner last night, so I let Emmie go to town with one. She only ate about half of it, but she sure managed to make a full-sized mess!
After getting all cleaning up from the cupcake, we read books together, and did some drawing, then we sang songs and played and watched a couple of the kids videos she likes on YouTube.
She also wanted to help daddy put her laundry basket of dirty clothes into the washer – she is such a big helper!
Daddy read the books, while Emmie ate a snack and had some water. Then she wanted to hold Mommy for prayers and lullabies.
She also needed to swaddle her bunny, and sing him a little song before unceremoniously dumping him back in her bed to sleep with her.
When it was time for her to lay her head on my shoulder, she just started chatting away… Out of nowhere, she was like, “pirate ship broken, needs new board, leg go through it.” And I mean, yes, she’s right – the first night in the pirate ship at my parents’ house, she stepped on a rotten board and her leg went through it! So they had talked about just needing to put a new board down to fix it. And she just randomly remembered that tonight. She is a mess!
I’ve already finished up the small amount of dishes we had, so now I’m sitting in the comfy chair in the dining room/library, finishing up this post, and this cute corner is my view.
My pumpkin Scentsy is burning again, and it’s just so cozy! We haven’t found a new show to watch yet, do I’m thinking I’m might just sit right here a while longer, and read a bit. Night friends!
