Perry Como Sings

Two sweet, silly little girlies this morning before school.

My fam was all in one car this morning, and when we saw Bo with the triplets and the baby at daycare, we felt like a big parade all walking into school together!

I put some chicken breasts, sliced onions, and some General Tso’s “stir fry” sauce from Aldi in the crock pot first thing this morning. It smelled so good when we got home tonight! I put on a pot of basmati rice, shredded the chicken, and microwaved a bag of steam-able broccoli, and everything was ready to go.

Topped with a tiny bit of Sriracha mayo & some chow mein noodles (my fave), and it was so yummy! This kind of meal is my favorite thing to make lately, because it’s so easy, the whole family loves it and eats so well, and I always get one or two bowls of leftovers to take to work for lunch.

After dinner, I put on our favorite Christmas vinyl record, and we finally started decorating the tree. Jeff got us started with the wool yarn at the top of the tree, and then once it was low enough for us, Emmie took over and her and I finished it up together. (And he went out to the carport to do some more work on his car.) Then both girls put on the ornaments with me, as far up as we could reach at least 😉

Addie loved clumping all the ornaments in the same location, and sometimes right on the same branch. So Emerson and I sneaked around behind her moving some of them, trying to disperse more evenly. There are still some more that will need to be rearranged, and we had to leave quite a few for Jeff to hang on the top of the tree, because we couldn’t reach the very top. We also couldn’t reach to put the star on, so he’ll have to do that for us too.

This Perry Como Christmas album used to be my Granddaddy’s, and this was my Grandparents’ record player from the ’70’s. I love that I have these pieces of them, living on in our house and in our holiday traditions!

It took us a while to finish the tree, so we didn’t start the bedtime routine until later than usual. But the girls and I watched Bluey while Jeff got showered, and then we were able to start winding down and gong through our usual routines. Emmie was excited to add her gingerbread pillow girl back to her bed tonight again too.

I shared my November reading wrap-up tonight, which was one of biggest reading months ever. In all transparency, quite a few of these were very short audio books, under 5 hours or so, so I was flying through them. Then, those last 6 were all Christmas-themed holiday novellas, which I read the week of Thanksgiving, when I was home sick for almost a full week.

Glad we finally got our tree decorated tonight, even if we didn’t put out any of the rest of the decor. Maybe we’ll get to that on the weekend…
