Delicious brown sugar cinnamon & walnut oatmeal for the whole family on a super cold Saturday morning at home.
Emerson came out of nowhere, wearing this old unicorn costume from when she was literally 2 years old. And she wore it all around the house for the longest time. (And wow this Christmas tree is driving me nuts, and we didn’t get around to taking it down today, but it better come down in the next two days…)
After lazing around the house for a while, we finally all got dressed and ready to head out for some errands. I had done our usual Walmart grocery order, but I forgot to add toilet paper and paper towels to the list, and I wanted some new little planters, so we wandered around inside for a while first before picking up the groceries.
Emerson also had $20 to spend that was burning a hole in her pocket, so she picked out a new electric toothbrush and a tiny baby doll stroller, and she was very excited to hand the man her cash from her little donut coin purse.
We picked up Wendy’s on the way home, because Jeff had this pretzel pub burger like two weeks ago, and I saw a picture of it and it looked so good and I haven’t stopped thinking about it. And it was just as good as it looked.
Jeff held Addison in the recliner and they booth snoozed their way through an afternoon nap. Emerson refused to nap though, even after we both laid down in the bed together. I kinda drifted in and out of sleep for a bit, but then her and I some coloring and stickers together, while hiding away in my room so we didn’t wake up Addie too early.
Then we let Jeff get a super quick cat nap in the bed so he could lay down regular after his weird recliner nap. The girls and I played together for a little bit (Addie wore this empty backpack around for a while that Grammy gave her for Christmas until Emerson filled it up with stuffies and toys to take with us), and then we got ourselves ready to go again.
First, we went to the library to pick up a few of my holds, and Emerson picked out some little girl books, and Jeff picked out DVD’s & audio CD’s.
Addie even picked out a book!
Next, we went to Shoe Station to look for some more supportive, orthopedic shoes for me. I tried on a pair, and although they did actually feel pretty comfortable, they had a weird velcro thing that bothered me. So we’ll try another store or two tomorrow/Monday.
And our last stop was dinner at Thai Kitchen, because I was really craving that spicy chicken noodle bowl. Again, it was just super warm and comforting on a cold day.
Oh wait, our actual last stop was at Dollar Tree, because I’ve been needed two new calendars for the new year (for home & office), but hadn’t been able to find cute ones. But I found 4 cute ones there, so I got two for me, and one for a friend.
The girls got straight into the bath once we got home, and then we got them dressed in matching jammies they got for Christmas, and we got started on the bedtime routine.
We actually had so many books and things that they gave us two of these tote bags for free when we were checking out, because we couldn’t carry the baby and all the things. One whole bag was just full of Emerson’s 10 choices, so we had plenty to choose from for our bedtime book!
Luckily, we got both girls to sleep really easily, and now I’m more than ready to cuddle up and warm up and rest up the rest of the night.
