Nighttime Nap

We did our sister pics at home today, so we could go through the East Hill drop-off line like normal, without me getting out of the car. At the beginning of the summer, Addie was so scared of going into a new place, and so clingy to us, that we had to park and it would always take like five minutes. But today for the first time, I let Emmie unbuckle right before we pulled in, so that she could unbuckle Addie, and then they both just hopped out and walked right inside, and it went perfectly! And I love the coordinating color scheme we accidentally pulled off today. Including Emmie’s new bag she got for her birthday.

Tonight, I picked up both girls from camp, and headed straight home. Addie curled up on the couch next to Daddy, and then I took Emmie to church. (The whole church is actually on a summer break from Wednesday night activities right now, but only Emmie’s group was meeting up for a special rehearsal.) When I got back home, Addie Pie had fallen asleep on the couch, surround by a little wall of pillows. So we just left her there having a nighttime nap for about an hour or so, while I made a store-bought Pad Thai meal from Aldi for Jeff and I for dinner.

Eventually, we had to wake her up so she wouldn’t sleep the night away, but she was a bear to actually wake up! Then Jeff made her a PB sammich for dinner, and she woke up in a much better mood. She’s had to go cold-turkey-no-naps at camp this summer, after having naps all through the year up until June, and some nights it just hits her hard!

After dinner, I read for a little while, and then headed back to the church to pick up Emerson. My friend Renae sent me this photo of the two of them painting some of the set-design tonight. When I got there, they were finishing up the last run-through of the play they’ve been working on, so I got to see the very end of their little rehearsal.

I sent this picture to my sister tonight to show her my progress for our book club tomorrow night. This book was her pick, and I was a little behind getting started on it, but I’m trying to read as fast as I can to finish it in time for tomorrow night!

And so on that note, I better go read some more before bedtime!
