We got to sleep in a little bit this morning, and headed to school just in time for Addison to sit down at the breakfast table.
And then, we took Emerson to Gilchrist for her kindergarten orientation! I really don’t know how almost-five-years has gone so fast, because this really felt like it came just wayyyy too quickly. But everything went great, and we loved the school! It was so sweet and I loved the principle, and they had such cool art in the cafeteria. The kindergarten teacher & room we saw/met was so great, and she even had baby chicks in her classroom!
I may or may not have started tearing up and crying during the little opening performance of the school song by the current kindergartener’s, and Jeff may or may not have taken this picture of my eyes all watery…
The little sign on the glass they gave her said, “My future’s so bright I have to wear shades.” I think we’re going to have a great future at Gilchrist, with the newest little Grizzly Cub! I’m still so so thankful that we were accepted with school choice, and I thank the Lord for allowing this for my baby girl!
We had a short day after our exciting morning, and then we headed on home for the night after school and work, and had some chicken alfredo and salad for dinner, outside on the back patio.
The girls had bath time after dinner, and then they wanted to play in Addison’s bed together for a while. Really, it works out well for me, because they stay safe and contained, and Emmie can keep Addie entertained, while I was able to clean up the kitchen and put away leftovers. (Jeff had run to Home Depot right after dinner, to get a few necessities for the kitchen sink issue, and a new pot for my peace lily that was dying in a too-small pot.)
They played in there for a long time, and once I finished my chores, I sat in the chair just watching them laugh and play, and it was incredibly sweet. Jeff got home shortly after this, and then we worked together to get them ready for bed, and put down for sleep. I re-potted my plant (really hoping and praying that re-potting it perks it back up, because it’s a plant given to me when my Granddaddy died 5.5 years ago, and I am pretty emotionally attached to it actually), and Jeff has been working on a few projects/chores around the house as well.
Tomorrow is trash day, so I’m going to go clean out the fridge, and then wash the dishes while listening to my current audiobook, the newest from Nicholas Sparks, “The Wish.”
