Museum & Mediterranean

All of you guys have spoiled this little girl (with help from us too, obviously), because she’s going to get to open at least one present a day the entire two weeks we’re here! Today, she got a backpack full of dresses, a pack of panties, and a new baby doll. Thank you, Mrs. Linda T. for the sweet gift!

Among the basket of snacks from our Sunday school class was a pack of gift cards, including one to Good Dough for some “artisanal” donuts and coffee. They were so fancy, and definitely delicious. It was certainly a treat! Thank you to the Peterson’s for finding this place & getting us the gift card!

Since we have a few free days here between the heart cath yesterday and the surgery next Wednesday, Jeff’s Aunt Tammy sent us a great list of local places and things to try, most of which were even free! The one we tried today was the Museum of Science and History, which was free to us while guests at RMH, which was so nice! We spent a couple of hours there, and even got to watch the planetarium show. The special exhibit was dinosaurs, so that was of course right up Emmie’s alley!

After spending a couple of hours at the MOSH and seeing all the things we possibly could (sadly, the giant tree/indoor playground was closed due to covid), we found a nice little hole-in-the-wall type local Mediterranean place called The Olive Tree. It was really good, and they gave us huge portions! We brought home all the rice and tabouleh as leftovers, because it was all too much.

This awesome fish tank is in the lobby of the RMH, and we stop to watch them for a few minutes, almost every time we pass through the lobby.

Emmie curled up next to Grammy on her bed and napped with her for about an hour and a half. Jeff did some computer work, and I read for about an hour, until my eyes were too heavy to hold open, and then I eventually took a short 30-minute nap myself.

We played around the “house” for a bit, then took a trip to Walmart. We have mini kitchens in our room, and they provide a few things for breakfast like milk and cereal, and bags of instant grits & oatmeal, but we decided we needed a coffee pot in our room. So we went to Walmart, grabbed the cheapest coffee pot and some coffee, and a few other things Emmie needed Grammy to get for her 😉

Papa John’s delivered pizza to the RMH for our dinner tonight, and since we are in two rooms, and they were giving out one pizza per room, we were lucky enough to get two pizzas! Emmie ate 1.5 pieces, and slurped down a while juice box. She had barely eaten anything at lunch, so that girl was hungry! Between the four of us, we only ate one pizza, and saved the rest for leftover snacks.

Since dinner is at 5 or 5:30 every night at RMH, there is plenty of time for playing and hanging out afterwards, before bedtime rolls around.

Emmie and Grammy had a video call with Aunt Suzanne, Uncle Keith and Grandmommie, and flipped them off trying to show them a tiny boo-boo on her middle finger 😆

Emmie chose to do bath time in Grammy’s room, and wore another new pair of jammies from Grandmommie. We forgot to bring bath toys with us, but I found a toy dinosaur in the bucket of toys we brought, so we threw that in there, and she splashed around a lot, and entertained herself just fine.

After getting her dressed, we grabbed her bubbles and went out on the little patio porch on our floor for some bubble-time before bedtime.

At bedtime, we rolled her crib back across the hallway to Grammy’s room tonight, for “just in case,” but of course she wanted to sleep in Grammy’s big girl bed with her. So hopefully she sleeps really well tonight!

Before I left, I said her bedtime prayers and sang her lullabies, but Emmie also wanted to say her own prayers tonight too. Here’s what she prayed, “Thank you Jesus for this day. Help Emerson’s finger to feel better again. And then we sing Jesus Loves Me before bedtime, and stay in the big girl bed all day long. We hope coffee (the dog) feels better again soon. And I’m praying for her to feel better all day long. And help the bunnies all day long. And then they gooooo right to sleep. And they was feeling all better now and we got to sleep. Thank you Jesus, amen.”

Now, that whole thing took her about two minutes is stutters and starts, but it was super precious. I love that she’s learning to pray on her own!
