More Stitches for Emerson…

Sweet baby Addison, looking a little taller and a little more grown up than usual, was very happy and excited for school. Once we got close to her classroom, she actually let go of my hand and ran to her door to see her teachers and friends.

And big sister Emerson had a good drop off too, and a good morning…..

Until about 10:45am, when I got a call from the school nurse, saying she fell off the monkey bars and busted her chin open. So Jeff ran to go pick her up, and took her straight to CHP Urgent Care. Turns out she needed two stitches on the underside of her chin, for a short, but wide and shallow gash. She was brave (she’s had a lot of these moments already in her short 5 years), and Jeff said she did really well.

And then she requested BBQ for lunch, so they went to Sonny’s, and of course he treated her to ice cream at Lofty Pursuits right next door afterwards too.

They also made a little run downtown and a quick stop by my office so she could see me too, and she wanted to check out my office, since it’s been re-done and I’ve redecorated. (I want to share pics here soon, but I was trying to find a lamp first still!)

Afternoon cold coffee from home really hit the spot today.

Luckily, Addie did have a good day at school. I love this photo of her and her tiny friends sitting there together, reading a book.

Beautiful sunset over the church tonight, on my way inside for praise team rehearsal. I went to praise team, and Emerson went to her “vocals master class” with Aunt Meggie to rehearse for the “fun arts” competition in February. Then Jeff took Addison to dinner before they headed back to church for the weekly prayer service.

The girls were wild and wacky when we got home, and then we did a quick video call with Grammy (so she could check on Emerson with her own eyes since she was worried about her).

We needed to take the bandaid off tonight and check on things, and of course that was just as traumatic and dramatic as always. (Even though it wasn’t actually hurting her to take it off, she’s just always been terrified of bandaid removal, ever since her open-heart surgery and a truly traumatic bandaid experience back then.)

It was super late by the time we finally got both girls settled down and in bed, and I was exhausted myself by that point. So now that I’m finishing up with this post, it’s time for me to crash too!
