Well, things didn’t get better last night, and she was throwing u again, so we decided she needed to go to the ER. We got there around 11:30pm, then sat in the waiting room for 1.5 hours before getting a room…
Once we got taken back to a room at almost 1am, they started running lots of tests. They did two different nasal swabs (one kinda of shallow, the other rather deep) to test for two types of flu, covid, RSV, and a few other things. Then they put in another IV to draw blood for blood test, and get her another dose of Zofran. They also ended up doing two of the smaller-sized bags of fluids over a few hours. She had a couple of pretty low BP readings, but they kept her hooked up to blood pressure and heart rate monitors for a few hours watching her. They also did an x-ray of her tummy right there in that bed from one of those mobile units.

Poor thing was so exhausted and so hungry and so thirsty and just wanted to go home. I had packed a little bag to bring with us, so I read aloud our book for a little bit, and then let her watch a movie on my phone for a bit. They also gave her one of those warm blankets, and she was able to sleep a little bit on and off as well. There was nothing concerning in any of the tests they ran, so it’s basically still just the GI bug rearing it’s ugly head. They discharged us around 4:45am, and we made it back home at 5am. I walked her straight to her bed when we got home, and we played a few lullabies and she was out immediately. By the time we did all that, and I got myself ready for bed, it was 5:30am and I had been awake all night and so I crashed into bed.
We woke up around 8 or 9am, even though we were still exhasuted. Obviously, we didn’t go to church today, and Jeff and Addie decided to stay home to rest as well. Well, I sent Jeff out to the store twice this morning for supplies for Emmie, and then her and I both took long naps from about 11am through 3-or-4pm. She has been sipping on Powerade most of the day, every 10-15 minutes, and then tonight, she was able to eat some applesauce, two pieces of toast, and half a scrambled egg, very slowly over the course of 4 hours. She hasn’t thrown up again at all today, but is still making trips to the bathroom for other tummy issues.
So her and I are staying home from work and school tomorrow. Hopefully she’s on the uphill side of all this by now, but she’s definitely not ready to go back to school tomorrow. She’s had a bit of trouble really settling down for sleep tonight, so I’ve been back and forth here and with her, taking care of her and trying to help her settle down to sleep. It’s past 11pm now, and I think she’s finally really asleep for the night.
Thank you for praying for her, and for checking up on her this weekend. She’s not out of the woods yet though, so please continue praying for her!
