Today was “dress like a community helper” day at school. Yesterday on the way home, I asked her what she anted to to be when she grew up, and after thinking for a few seconds, she said, “A little kid nurse.” We talked about that for a minute, and then she said, “And also a superhero!” We talked in the car for about 5-10 minutes, and I really wished I could have ben videoing or recording everything she was saying.
She said she could be a superhero and fly the kids who got hurt to the hospital. She asked where Wolfson’s was, so I told her Jacksonville. She asked where that way, so I told her over on the east side of Florida. She said, “Well I don’t know how to get there, so I’ll need Google. But I don’t have a car for her to tell me, where would I put my phone?” I reminded her she doesn’t need a car if she can fly, and that she could wear headphones for Google to give her directions. She was satisfied with that idea.
Then this morning on the way to school, we were talking about it all again, and she told me again all about being a “little kid nurse” and a superhero, and that she was going to fly the hurt kids to Dr. Abby for her to fix them.
After school and work, her and Daddy went on another walk-about while I got dinner ready. Well, he had started the brown rice for me (since it takes so long), so I just had to do the main dish and one more veggie.
I made up a glaze/marinade for some teriyaki-style salmon, after reading a few keto-friendly recipes, and just using what I had on hand. I mixed soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic & ginger, and then just sautéed the salmon with the sauce mix in the skillet. And it turned out sooo good! I measured out my 1/2 cup of brown rice (for 18g carbs), and I was stuffed after eating this. But I’m excited to eat this on repeat for lunch again tomorrow.
Emerson “didn’t like” the salmon at first. But then we started making bites for her with fish & rice mixed, and she started accidentally calling it chicken, and then she cleaned her plate!
Dinner was followed by bath, and bath was followed by cuddles on the couch, and even after her big dinner, she still ate an entire bag of mini pretzels for her bedtime snack.
After just a little bit of her usual whining and stalling attempts, she actually did really well and went to bed really easily. Jeff volunteered to wash the dishes tonight, so he’s taking care of that now. I’m feeling very super tired tonight, so I have a feeling I’ll be going to bed very soon here, once I have my nightly bedtime protein shake.
