It Takes Two

No school for the girls today, due to their “fall holiday,” so I took the day off work to be with them. The girls slept until about 7:45 this morning, or so Emerson says, and I got up with my 8am alarm. We had a slow, lazy morning, and finally had some cereal about an hour later. We loved our cozy candle-light meal together.

The girls played the rest of the morning while I took care of some things via computer work and phone calls. Once we got ourselves ready, we drove out to Grandmommie’s house to pick her up, then met up with Aunt Suzanne too for lunch G-mom’s favorite place. It was a yummy meal, and a nice little impromptu lunch all together!

The girls loved seeing both Grandmommie and Aunt Suzanne, and were literally just chatting their ears off the whole time with all their stories and funny little things.

We went back to hang with Grandmommie for a little bit after taking her home, and the girls snuggled up in the triple-decker-bunk beds to watch a show about doggies, while Grandmommie and I were able to just chat together.

Had to stop by one of the best LFL’s in town, over off Kerry Forrest.

We also ran into the Dollar Tree out there quickly, and I finally grabbed my first coffee of the day, an iced pumpkin spice latte, from Elliano’s.

We ran around doing all sorts of errands after that, like stopping my Jeff’s office downtown, mailing out some returns at both UPS & USPS, another Dollar Tree on the other side of town, and finally Five Below. Grandmommie had given both of the girls a five dollar bill, and then found them each a one dollar bill, and of course it was immediately burning a hole right through their proverbial pockets! And lucky for them, they found dumplings at Five Below, for $5 each, so it worked out perfectly!

After all of our running about town, we needed some quiet movie-rest time. So whenever we have these movie rest time afternoons, I’m constantly searching for calm-ish movies that aren’t too overstimulating and crazy (or annoying for me). I love finding old 90’s movies, or early 00’s, or even much older Disney movies. The other day, I found an Instagram post with a great list of older G & PG rated movies, and it reminded me of so many good ones! (I’m going to put the list into a Google Sheets doc, with where to watch each movie, so I can share that if anyone is interested, once I finish it.) So today, we watched “It Takes Two” on YouTube, and it was so good! I LOVED this one as a kid, and can still quote a lot of the lines. So the girls made a little pallette on the floor and grabbed stuffies and snacks, and they loved this one!

It’s possible I dozed off for a tiny bit during the movie, but once it was finished, I popped into the kitchen to make dinner. I got these family size frozen chicken entrees from “InnovAsian” to try out, so tonight I made the orange chicken one, with basmati rice and broccoli, and it was really good. It didn’t make as much chicken as we thought it would, but it ended up being just enough for the four of us, but no leftovers unfortunately.

The girls wanted to put on another dance performance for us tonight, but there was a bit too much chaos and whining and clashing, so we had to cancel tonight’s show and postpone for another evening. Instead, the cuddled up one on each side of me, and we watched a little bit of “Sophia the First,” and then got them in bed at a good time. They were both super tired, and fell asleep very quickly. I already washed dishes earlier tonight, and cleaned up everything from dinner, so now I can just relax again after a busy day “off!”
