Hubby the Handyman

Emerson brushing her teeth with Mommy this morning.

Before going to Grandmommie’s house for breakfast! She cooked us quite a feast – eggs, biscuits, orange danishes, fried potatoes, bacon & sausage. And coffee of course. And it was all so delicious!

I got to sit on the front porch, enjoying the cool breeze and my second cup of coffee, while Grandmommie and Emerson took a walk down the long driveway to the mailbox.

Then we sat on the steps and watched for the deer to come. A few minutes later, we saw three Mama’s and three babies, crossing the road headed towards the lake for their morning water. It was so neat!

Jeff did a couple of handy-man things around the house, like fixing the fan on the back porch.

And Emerson loved listening to Grandmommie play a hymn on the piano.

She wasn’t too thrilled about leaving though…

But Daddy walked her down to the Little Free Library, and they found a Mickey book, so that made her a happy camper!

She read it on the car ride home…

And we read it before nap time.

She ended up sleeping for about three hours, and Jeff napped for about two of those hours. I didn’t even pretend to do any work or anything, and just watched TV most of that time. Once Emerson woke up from her nap, we were going to get ready to go to Jeff’s parents house. When we got Emmie out of her crib though, she was burning hot. She had had a small fever (about 102) this morning, but we weren’t too concerned, but this time it was 106 with the ear thermometer, and 104 rectally. Ughhhh….

We texted our friend/pediatrician Abby, and she confirmed it was ok, but that we should definitely give Tylenol and push fluids.  So of course we did, and my poor girl was just s hot and sleepy. She was loving on the puppy on the couch, and was like, “I have a feva, Pessle.” I guess she heard us say that, and she was just so sweet repeating it, telling Pretzel all about it.

We decided to stick with our plans though, and headed out to Dave & Nita’s house. Jeff helped put of some of the Wyze security cameras like we have, plus some new motion-detecting lights. Nana got Emmie this cute little kitty purse today, and Emmie was very into it.

She wanted a snack, so Nana found this strawberry flavored fruit bar, and she really went to town on it!

Then while I was being Jeff’s ladder-holder-person, Nana took Emmie on a carriage ride!

This guy did all they handy-work for the families today… He’s not only computer-smart, but he’s also really handy to have around too! Such a great guy 🙂

And then she saw her stroller in the trunk, and wanted to go for a stroller ride too, and I got to walk with them this time. Normally, she would want to get out after only a short bit, and walk/push herself, but we could tell she didn’t feel good, because she just stayed in there quietly and calmly the entire time.

But then she wanted to “help clean,” so she was brushing everything on the back porch with a little toothbrush.

We had spaghetti and meatballs for dinner, with garlic bread, but I was too busy eating and forgot to take pictures. While Nita was out of town in St. Pete with a friend last weekend, they went to this cool Italian market, and she brought stuff back in a cooler, and tonight’s meatballs were part of that haul, and they were so stinking delicious!

Emmie had a bath after dinner, and then Nana got her dressed in her cute cupcake jammies.

And she “booped” down the stairs. (Which means she scooted down on her butt, and I say “boop, boop, boop” every time she goes down a step. She loves this game.)

She wanted a snack after bath time, and we offered her lots of options (cheese, gold fish, grapes, etc.), but she didn’t want anything. So finally I offered her a meatball, and she loved the idea. And then she proceeded to eat three more large meatballs!

Followed by some cookies.

At home, even though it was super late past her bedtime, she insisted she needed another snack, so we negotiated her down and let her have two small “Panda cookies.” (They’re little Asian cookies, usually filled with chocolate or strawberry, we’ve found them at Ross or TJ Maxx sometimes, and she loves them.)

Once we finally got her all settled down, the actual bedtime routine went really smooth. Jeff is taking a quick shower, then we’ll relax for just a bit, and then it’ll be our bedtime soon too.

We’re already planning to stay home from church in the morning, but I’m sad because tomorrow night is the fall festival at both our church and Megan & Bo’s church, and we were going to do both. But now it looks like we won’t get to do either of them, and I’m sad we’re going to miss them! Praying now though that my poor sick girl sleeps well through the night, and that she feels better tomorrow.
