Hot Soup & Hot Tea

My tiny Emerson was so excited to wear this cute little sweater today, and of course she looked so sweet in it!

These next two photos are her going, “When it’s chilly outside, you go…” Then she wrapped herself up tighter, stamped her feet, and wiggled around. It was so funny & cute!

And of course all the baby girls were excited for loves and hugs from their big cousin!

Emmie had another nice long nap today, and colored a turkey. When I picked her up after school, she was telling me that her teachers told her to stay inside the lines when she was coloring, but that she didn’t know why they would tell her that?

Since I felt so bad yesterday (although I was feeling much better today, but still slightly under the weather), my sweet mother-in-law made a giant pot of homemade chicken noodle soup this afternoon, and brought it over to our house after work. So when I walked in at home, she was already in the kitchen heating up the soup and making us all grilled cheese sandwiches to go with it! What an amazing treat, to have a home cooked meal, in my home, made my someone else!

My growing girl are SO MUCH. She had her entire sandwich, and then ate another half of mine, plus a serving of chicken & noodles (sans veggies & soup). I think she may have finally started filling out a bit more too around her middle, so maybe she’ll gain another pound here soon!?

I could only eat half of this giant bowl of soup, but it was super creamy and delicious, and of course I’m looking forward to the leftovers for lunch later this week.

Some Emmie ate so well, we let her have a lollipop for dessert, but she only ate a little bit, and then wanted to save the rest for tomorrow, or next week. I told her tomorrow would be a good idea.

She asked to borrow a few books from the school library today, and she chose two wintery books, one about snow and one about a snowman. We cuddled up on the couch under the blanket and read them together after dinner, and they were both really cute books.

The living room was super cluttered and messy (so much so that it was even bothering Jeff!), so we took a few minutes to tidy up, and all of us felt better afterwards.

We got Emmie dressed and ready for bedtime, and then she picked out her “zipline” book to read, about a little girl who had heart surgery and has a zipline scar, but that other than that, she’s just like all the other kids! It’s really sweet, and kinda makes me a little emotional sometimes to read it out loud.

After getting Emmie down, I put away all the soup leftovers, and got the kitchen tidied up a little. I lit a nice-smelling candle, and got out the electric tea kettle. As I mentioned earlier, I did wake up feeling better today, but I still kinda feel like I’m right on the verge of getting a cold. So at work today, I ate two oranges (for all the vitamin C), and had cup of hot tea. And then I made Jeff and I both a cup of hot mint tea tonight too. We’re pretty much at the time of year now where we’ll just leave it out on the counter all the time, and have tea almost every night while watching tv. It’s so nice and warm and cozy!

I’m still gonna take it easy for the next day or so, and load up on hot tea and soup, and I’m gonna try to kick this cold before it can really settle in.
