We started off our morning with breakfast pizza from Walmart – sausage, egg & cheese toppings, on a biscuit crust with white gravy for the sauce. Sooo good!
Then we spent some time playing, and doing more laundry, and then once I put Addison down for a morning nap, Jeff, Emmie and I all worked on folding about 7 zillion pieces of little girls clothes, from about four different loads.
We eventually had to wake up Addison, so we could head over to Nana & PopPop’s house for lunch, with Jeff’s youngest brother’s family, visiting from Texas. This is Nana and the kiddos making some homemade orange pineapple sherbet. Then we had hot dogs and hamburgers for lunch, that Jeff grilled out for us in the 95-degree weather on the back deck.
After lunch, Addison (and Mommy), needed a break to cool off in the a/c, so we went inside to play, and she was just lounging between my legs, hanging out chewing on some toys.
And then Jeff brought me a bowl of the homemade sherbet, which was so yummy and summery, and of course I shared mine with Addison.
I needed some afternoon coffee…
And then I got Addie to sleep for a little bit, while Emmie napped upstairs with Nana. (Everyone else had scattered their separate ways, either to visit other family, or to see the new Top Gun movie, so we had some quiet time to cuddle and rest.)
Then we had some more playtime outside and popsicles on the back porch.
Nana, the girls and I had a hodge-podge of leftovers for dinner before all the guys got back from the movie, and then Emerson asked Nana to help wash the dishes, and so Nana showed her how to load the dishwasher. Addison ate everything we gave her, and continued eating as a distraction while we cleaned up. (When I took this photo, I didn’t realize her eyes were quite so crazy 😉 )
Once Jeff, his dad and his brother got back to the house, we played a little bit more, and then loaded up to head home. Emmie needed a super quick shower when we got home, since she was sweaty and smelled like bug spray. Then of course it was time to get started on the bedtime routine. It was a little rockier tonight, but nothing we couldn’t manage, and both girls are now asleep, so all is well!
Jeff brought home his leftover movie theater popcorn for me, and since we had our light, early dinner almost four hours ago now, that popcorn is calling my name for a little snack-time on the couch here tonight.
