Today was our fullest, longest day yet, but it was a beautiful day! We started with breakfast at the cabin (Bo is doing an amazing job cooking for us every morning), and then Grammy gave all the kids matching Cousin Crew outfits!
Then we went for a little drive from our cabin over to Cades Cove in the Great Smokey Mountains National Park, for some time in nature and a hike through the mountains, followed by a picnic by a beautiful little river.
It’s a big 10-ish mile (I think) one-way loop at 20mph, with lots of stops and sights and hikes and scenic views along the way, with the possibility to see all sorts of animals. We only saw a few deer, but everything was beautiful!
It was past 1pm by the time we were back in the car after the park, and we had hiked about a mile and half, and the girls had fun wild, and this baby girl was passed out in just a few minutes.
One of the cute towns we passed through in the morning was Wears Valley was packed with cute stores and shops, so we made sure to stop in a few on our way back through. We stopped in a few cute stores, had some pastries, and found a great little coffee shop with delicious lattes for an afternoon pick-me-up.
We made it back to the cabin with just enough time to change clothes and freshen up, and we went back out for dinner at the Apple Barn again. Their dinner menu is just as yummy as their breakfast menu, but the meals are even bigger and come with both soup to start, two sides, and dessert to finish! I shared my soup with Addie, had chicken and dumplings for my meal (couldn’t even finish it all), fed Addie both my sides for her meal, and just barely saved room for apple spice cake for dessert.
It was time for all the girls to go to bed once we got home, but they were all so exhausted it took no time at all and everyone was sound asleep in no time. Mom, Megan and I worked on the puzzle for a little bit, and we’re sooo close to finishing!
Phew, I’m exhausted now too. I’m gonna read a little bit before bedtime, but I know I’ll fall asleep quickly after all the activities of the day!
