We slept in a little bit this morning, then just had some cereal for breakfast. Jeff and the boys went to borrow PopPop’s truck to pick up some furniture Nana’s friend gave us, for free! (I’ll share more about that later once we get everything settled, but we gotta move beds around and sell the baby crib finally…) The girls and I went over to Nana’s house to drop a couple pork loins in the crock-pot, to cook all day for us to all go back over for dinner tonight. Also, please look closely, and you can see they’re both wearing cute little stick-on earrings.
After getting the crock-pot started, the girls and I took a little trip to the thrift store for a quick browse, and found a very cute basket, and a fun little puzzle, all for $8 total.
They were so cute in the backseat, coloring quietly while we drove across town listening to the “Wicked” soundtrack.
Jeff, Nana and the boys all got home right at the same time we did, and as soon as we got home, we started picking some oranges to fill the new basket. Nana helped me and the girls with the oranges, and Jeff and the boys got the new furniture unloaded from the truck and put up until we’re ready to start moving stuff around…
Jeff and the boys went back out to return the truck and do a couple more errands, and they hit up the Goodwill themselves. I made snacky plates for the girls and myself for lunch, all slightly varied, but things like meat, cheese & oranges for all of us, plus a fruit punch energy mix-in for my water for myself.
I got Addison down for her nap after lunch, and Emerson very sweetly help me wash up like three days’ worth of dirty dishes.
And of course I treated myself to a little afternoon iced peppermint mocha coffee after washing the dishes. I took my coffee to the carport to watch Emerson on her scooter, while Addie was still sleeping.
This cute basket of oranges was just looking so pretty in the afternoon sunlight by the Christmas tree, that of course I had to snap a photo of it.
We headed over to Nana’s house once Addie woke up. I was able to sit on the back porch by myself for a little while, and just enjoy the nice weather and the quiet, after being with the girls basically all by myself the whole day. And Jeff and the boys took the girls on a little bike/scooter ride down the street at Nana’s before dinner.
We had a little twist on some of the traditional Southern good luck foods, with pork loin, green beans, black eyed peas, rice, salad and biscuits. It was delicious, and hopefully it will bring us some good luck in the new year!
I have to go back to work again tomorrow and Friday, so I need to try to go to sleep at a regular time. But last night, we discovered the boys have never actually seen the “Lord of the Rings” movies! So we got started watching the four-hour extended directors cut of the first movie last night. We only got about half way through, so we still have a lot more to go, which we’ll keep working on more tonight…
