Groundskeepers

Let me tell y’all, getting to do drop-off and pick-up for both girls at the same place every day, is SO nice! This is our first time having them at the same place in a few years (last time was 4 years ago, the summer before Emmie started kindergarten), and it’s going great. I just have to park and get out to unbuckle Addie’s car seat, but then things go quickly and easily, and it’s all a one-stop-shopping situation!

Dinner tonight was chicken salad again, since it’s so cheap and easy and the girls love it so much. Summer grocery budget is stretched thin with two girls in day camp, so meals like this will be on repeat for the next couple of months…

Little Tiny wanted to come help mama mix up the chicken salad, and then she had to sample a few bites too of course.

This plate looks ridiculous, with the leftover veggies from another meal I just mixed together, and a few leftover grapes from church breakfast the other day, with my keto-bread sandwich. But like I said, it’s budget meals this summer! And using up leftovers is a must. And I realize it’s not exactly low-carb, but I figured fruits and veggies are still better than chips or whatever else…

After dinner, my little sidekick and I cozied up together on the couch to read a little bit. Meanwhile, Jeff and his little sidekick were outside together acting as our groundskeepers.

This is a little girl that is very much a Daddy’s girl, and wants to be glued to him no matter what! She would rather be with him, riding around plastered to him in the heat, both of them sweaty and stinky, just to be near him, than anywhere else!

As she was out there riding around, she flashed me the biggest, happiest smile, and threw up the “I love you” sign in sign language that I’ve taught her, and it just made my heart swell to see her so sweet and happy! And then I went inside and sat back down with Emmie, and she cuddled up to me as close as she could possibly get, and my heart was overflowing with happiness for these sweet, small moments with my precious family. It was such a normal night, but it was a good night 🙂
