Grasshopper

Emerson is really into cereal lately. Her and Daddy found this new chocolate Lucky Charms the other day, and she loves it. She actually ate 4 bowls of it this morning!

And Mommy & Daddy each had a bowl ourselves.

And since Daddy doesn’t like drinking his cereal milk (I love it!), Emerson drank his from his bowl with a straw 😉

And then we just spent the next few hours hanging out in our nightgowns, playing with all the things, doing a few chores, tidying up here and there, and finally eating lunch before Emerson’s nap time…

This unicorn followed me to the potty, and sat there for a minute herself.

We love to sit in this chair in our front room (half dining room / half reading room), and watch for cars and big trucks. Today, there was a detour off of Tharpe street that was re-routing even more cars than normal (including a cement truck, twice), and she was loving it. Then she just started blabbing on and on about something, and I figured out a few seconds later, she was talking about a grasshopper that she was certain was out in the grass. She kept talking about it and she was just so cute about the grasshopper.

Apparently she just loves dumping out a ton of toys, then sitting in the middle of them reading a book or two.

But we got everything all cleaned up and looking nice, including a clean new sheet in her crib!

She had chicken strips and noodles for her lunch, and she ate two large strips, all doused in her new fave – honey mustard!

After all the playing and the tidying and the lunch-eating, I got her down for her nap pretty easily, after reading a Little Golden Book with the Christmas story. It’s a really great version of it, with Bible verses in it and everything!

When we were cleaning up earlier, she put a LOT of her babies and lovey’s and animals all in her bed, but at least she let me arrange them all together, so she still had plenty of room to sleep.

Jeff had left around 11am to go help an older lady with some computer stuff, so after getting Emerson down for her nap, I threw this soup in the oven, and washed dishes and tidied up some more while it cooked. I bought this from the frozen section at Trader Joe’s a while ago, but never had a chance to try it. It was pretty good though! (Although I don’t think it agreed with my stomach, so I probably won’t buy it again…)

Look at this teeny tiny 4-month old nugget from two years ago! I loved these little nightgowns and matching beanies she had when she was little.

After Emerson woke up from her nap, we finally both got dressed, and decided to venture outside the house.

She was adamant about walking around in the grass for a while, so I let her just go to town. I suggested she go touch the flowers on the tree in the corner of the yard, and she liked that idea. I let her go by herself like a big girl, but then she looked so cute over there, I had to go follow her!

I just absolutely LOVE this sweet little smirk of smile she’s doing in this photo below!

We first went to Target to buy diapers with a gift card, and she saw this puppy pouch that she just absolutely had to have. She held it up to her onesie, and was like, “it matches me!” I was impressed. And then she saw Pringles in the check-out line, and so she forced me to get her those too 😉

We also had a Walmart grocery order to pick-up, so we did that next. With these dark giant clouds, I was glad I was sitting there waiting for them to bring it all out to me, rather than going in the store, and risking getting caught in a downpour! (If you haven’t done grocery pick up before, let me know, and I’ll send you a promo code email or text for $10 off your first order, and it’ll give me $10 too! It’s literally the best.)

And then I needed an afternoon pick-me-up, because I hadn’t had any coffee or caffeine at all today, and I felt like I was fading fast. From 2-6pm, lattes are only $2, and this caramel iced latte was delish! Then Emmie had her puppy pouch for an afternoon snack once we got home & got the groceries unloaded and put away.

Jeff’s parents have been out of town for the past week on a cruise, so once they got back to Tally this afternoon, we met up with them at their house for dinner together. Emmie and Nana played with all the potato heads for a while, and made a cute little family of “tata heads,” as Emmie says it.

We ordered a Chinese food smorgasbord from Bamboo Wok, and it was sooo good. I always like to eat a little bit of all the kinds of chicken, but tonight, the cashew chicken was the best. Emerson ate more of the cashew chicken than anything else, plus lots of rice, and then she very sweetly shared Nana’s egg roll with her.

We did bath time at their house, and then Emmie wore her new llama jammies we got at Walmart last week. They’re a 2T, and pretty big on her, but she didn’t mind, and she looked adorable in them!

We had some delicious muffins for dessert, that they brought back from Perkins Restaurant in Orlando. And then Emerson and Nana perused the new Magnolia Journal together.

We sent home soon after, so we could get our hyper/sleepy girl to bed. We read the Christmas story Golden Book again, and after a little convincing, I got her calmed down for lullabies.

MVIMG_20191123_204518

As I was rocking her and singing her lullabies, she was trying to say something, but I couldn’t understand her. I kept asking her “what? I don’t understand,” and she’d repeat herself, but even quieter, and so I still couldn’t understand her. She kept repeating herself, but in the tiniest, quietest whisper ever. I finally said, “say it out loud in your real voice so I can hear you.” And she was just like, “Grasshopper.” No question, no excitement, just the one statement, “grasshopper.” What a weirdo!!

I did get her to sleep though soon after the grasshopper comment, and now it’s time for me to kick my feet up and rest for a bit, before heading to bed myself!
