It was cool and chilly first thing this morning, so we got to dress like it was actually fall in Florida, and it was so nice!
We had an awesome morning in church (including testimony from four church members who are engineers/scientists with PhD’s who believe in their respective scientific fields, and still believe in an Almighty Creator; all of which made me cry actually) and then after church, I auditioned with the worship pastor to join the praise team. He welcomed me to the team, and told me he’d put me on the schedule starting this morning, and I’m so excited to get back on praise team after taking a few months off when switching churches!
We had a quick lunch, and relatively short naps at home, and then we headed out to Megan & Bo’s house for an afternoon of family fun and to celebrate Grammy’s birthday with a chili supper.
Megan and Bo each made a variety of “traditional” chili, just slightly different from each other, and Meg also made a pot of white chicken chili (all three were delicious, but the chicken chili was my fave). I was in charge of toppings and drinks, Aunt Suzanne made three different types of cornbread (all delicious), and Grandmommie made homemade sour cream pound cake, with strawberries and whipped cream topping (which was delicious as well).
I was smart and brought my own Tupperware bowls over with us tonight, so I could leave with leftovers to take to work for lunch. And I was so proud of myself for remembering that, because I’m already looking forward to more of that white chicken chili tomorrow.
I somehow managed to buy an apron with the word “grateful” upside down, without even noticing until she opened it tonight, and we kind of all noticed at the exact same time. I mean honestly, that would be something I would do… Papa said she could wear it to make pineapple upside down cake, and I said she needs to make pumpkin upside down cake instead! I offered to return or exchange it for her, but she wants to keep it, since it’s a funny memory now. 🙂
After lots more time on the trampoline after dinner, dessert & presents, the girls were all sweaty and covered in black stuff from the trampoline. So we put the four big girls in the bath tub together and got them clean, and in fresh jammies, and then it was time for loves and hugs before loading up in the car to head home.
Had to get one more quick pony ride on the way to the car…
The sky looked so cool on our drive home, and Emmie wanted me to take a picture, but of course the cell phone pictures never do it justice.
We did bedtime as soon as we got home, and both girls were so worn out they zonked out very quickly. I need to go set up a few things to get us ready for a new week tomorrow (bags, cups, coffee, etc…), and then get a little rest myself too.
