Golden Mushroom

For President’s Day today, the Leon County School’s were closed, so I took the day off to be with Emerson. So that meant Daddy took Addison to daycare. And I believe she had a mouthful of gummy worms in these photos 😉

I woke up this morning with my allergies all crazy, and I was super tired still. So after making breakfast for Emmie and me, I was kind of in & out of sleep on the couch for a couple of hours, while she snuggled up next to me, watching a cake decorating competition show on Netflix. I finally got up around 11am when she said she was hungry for lunch already, and put together some beef tips in the slow cooker for tonight’s dinner.

Then after eating lunch, she was feeling a little bored and antsy. So I made my third cup of tea for the day, blueberry in a blue travel mug, and got a blueberry scone from our tea party, and we headed out to the park.

When we left the park, she was complaining of a headache, so I made her lay down and take a nap, and she ended up sleeping for almost two hours. While she slept, I cleaned and vacuumed the living room, and washed the dishes, and started a load of clothes, and then read a little bit. I was on a little productivity kick, and it felt nice to get so much done around the house.

I had given Emerson some ibuprofen for her headache before her nap, and she woke up feeling much better. So much better that she felt like going to gymnastics tonight. And she did great!

Jeff picked up Addison from school, then he made the instant rice and served up dinner for the two of them.

Then when Emerson and I got home, I microwaved the steam-in-the-bag frozen peas that Jeff had forgotten, and made plates for the two of us. Plus, I scooped some peas onto Addie’s plate, since she was still eating at the coffee table. And this was sooo good. It wasn’t the first time I’ve made it, but it was the first time in a while that I made it my mom’s way, with the golden mushroom soup, and that’s definitely the best way to make it.

We did our usual Bluey and snuggles on the couch, and then about two minutes after I took Emmie to her room, Jeff texted me saying Addie was already snoring with him in the recliner. So clearly baby sister was just worn out. And big sister fell asleep easily too. I’ve already put away the leftovers, and I’m just gonna wash up a few things super quick. Then I think it’s time for another cup of hot tea and a blankie on the couch.
