Gardenias, Snails & Dandelions

For their end-of-the-year celebration, the VPK classes had a special water day today. So when Emerson woke up at 6am, I watched her on the camera grab her bathing suit, and get herself dressed, before she did anything else. She was so excited about water day, and so excited about this new Ruffle Butts bathing suit from Grammy!

We got lots of pictures of both girls today, although a lot of the ones of Emmie were actually from yesterday, when they went on a little tour around the school, visiting all their old teachers they’ve had these last five years. So sweet!

I found Addison on the bye-bye-buggy when I got there after work, and Emmie was actually coming out of one classroom right at that exact moment too. We saw Aunt Meggie & Uncle Bo picking up the triplets, and got lots of loves from all of them.

And because we heard the trippies were having a pizza party tonight, Emerson decided we had to have a pizza party tonight too. So I got Jeff to order and pick up a pizza for us, and then we ate outside on our back patio table.

Addison ate literally an entire piece of pizza. I couldn’t even get Emerson to eat an entire piece!

After we ate, we played in the backyard for a long time, and wandered around exploring and foraging and gathering all sorts of little things.

Snapped off this little bundle to bring inside, because they smell so good.

OK so these things were our big mystery tonight. There was just one patch, about 1 square foot, of different looking foliage, with these growing all over the patch. There were probably 40-50 of them, and half are fresh & green, and half are dried & brown, and you can hear seeds shaking around inside the dried ones. I tried using Google Lens, but the results were inconclusive, and I still don’t know! Jeff mowed the backyard after we went inside, but we put a lawn chair on top of the patch so he wouldn’t cut it, in case it’s something cool we wanna keep. Anyone have any ideas? I’ll go back out tomorrow to take a picture of the actual patch too, plus the seeds inside the dried pods.

We played in Addie’s room for a little bit while Jeff was mowing the lawn, then I got the girls ready for bed. I gave Addie a bottle of milk, and Emmie picked a bedtime snack, and we watched a show on Disney+ about the animals at Animal Kingdom.

I rocked Addison to sleep first, and then went through the bedtime routine with Emerson. Jeff kept mowing until the last of the daylight faded away, and he’s outside in the carport now, still trying to cool off before coming inside to get cleaned up. Glad I didn’t have to cook dinner or wash dishes tonight, so now I get to just plop down on the couch and chill! Actually, I might go start up a load of laundry tonight, so there’s less to do in the next few days…
