Fresh New Start

I woke up with a terrible sinus migraine this morning, so after taking some meds and feeding Addison, we got some breakfast from the drive-thru, because I did not feel like cooking today. Emerson was more than excited to eat her favorite McGriddle though!

And we shared some eggs with the baby girl.

The we had a make-believe tea party with the new lady bug tea party set she got for Christmas.

Even baby sister went all in on the tea party this morning!

We spent a little bit of time this morning getting started on the Christmas decorations, washing up dishes, and starting some laundry. I fed Addie a bottle at 10am (she had been awake since around 7), and she fell asleep while drinking. I was able to lay her in her bed at 10:20-ish, and girlfriend slept until 1:30 pm!!! I can’t even remember when she last napped for that long, but I was SO glad she did, because she needed it! During Addie’s nap, we made lunch for the three of us, and got Emerson down for her nap, and kept working on cleaning up…

These two photos below are kind of the “during” photos of our clean-up process today. After the boys are here, and after Christmas, the house was just a disaster, and I literally couldn’t stand it anymore. So we pushed super hard today to get as much done as possible, and really, I was very proud with how much we got done!

My Addie girl was so happy and so hungry when she woke up – she drained her whole bottle, and then just wanted to stare and giggle at Daddy, and play with Mommy.

And she is officially in the “cruising” stage! She walked down the length of the coffee table two or three times like this today, and was obviously very proud of herself.

We put Addison in her crib in her room with a bunch of toys, and let Emmie get in there with her, and they occupied themselves for quite a while, while Jeff and I finished the final push of cleaning. Not only did we get all the Christmas stuff taken down and packed in the boxes, we also got all the boxes put up in the closet! (In years past, we would box it up, but it would take 7-10 more business days before it was all in the closet 😉 ) But look how pretty the dining room looks now!

One of my favorite things about the new year is actually taking down all the Christmas things, and putting the house back in order. Today was a beautiful day while we cleaned, so had the windows open and a new candle burning, and it looks so nice and bright and airy again, and I love it so much! It feels like such a fresh, new start!

We made a quick run into Walmart for baby formula (our grocery pick-up isn’t until tomorrow afternoon, and our formula can was very low and I didn’t want to run out before tomorrow afternoon), and then picked up some take-out hibachi from a place near our house. I actually let Jeff pick the restaurant tonight, because I almost always want some form of Mexican/tacos, but he always wants something Asian. And this was good, but it wasn’t carnitas 😉 But I’ll let Jeff eat the other half of my leftovers for his lunch one day next week…

Oh and this goofball insisted on a Happy Meal instead of sharing our meals (like we usually do when we order Chinese take-out), but at least she ate almost all of it, plus some of my rice too.

We had kind of an early dinner, so we had a little bit more time after dinner for projects, so we put Addie in her “plack & play,” as Emmie calls it, and finally hung this St. Augustine puzzle. I put this together and Mod Podged it back in July while on maternity leave, framed it right away, and then let it sit around for about 6 months before we finally got around to hanging it up!

Emerson made up some sort of game she was playing while Jeff was hanging the photo, and was just talking my ear off about all the rules and things and how to “win.”

It might have taken forever, but I love it here! (It always takes me forever to hang stuff in the house, because it feels so permanent {even though I know it can be changed}, so I like to really think about it and make 100% certain before we put holes in the walls.)

The girls had a bath after dinner, and Emmie played with some new bath toys she got for Christmas, and then we put both of them in some new jammies they also got for Christmas. We had lots of time to just sit and cuddle and watch Matilda before bedtime, and Emmie was so sweet. Jeff fed Addie a bottle, and she was out like a light.

After a lot of work and cleaning today, we are more than ready to finally sit down and do nothing but chill and watch tv, and drink some hot tea. (I got Jeff that mug on the left for one of his Christmas presents, and he’s obsessed with it. I know my other TikTok millennials know who this is…)

Very glad with how much progress we made in the house today. We have a bit more to do tomorrow in the living room and kitchen, and a few more loads of clothes to wash/dry/fold, but it should be another chill day, mostly at home.
