This morning started off early, as usual, today with PopTarts and the original One Hundred and One Dalmatians on Disney+, she loved the puppies of course.
And then Emmie needed to take care of her own puppy, by brushing out his little fur.
Second breakfast today was a tiny orange, followed by play time around the house.
She found my blue-light glasses and when we all started laughing at her, she started cracking up and she wore them around the house for a little while afterwards.
We did these little puzzles for the first time in a while (or maybe the first time ever?) and she was really good at them. I would give her the letter for each word, and she figured out where they went. I was actually pretty impressed!
While Emmie and I played, Jeff and the boys put the hinges on the blue doors, and started hanging a few of them. Since these hinges are different than the white ones on the uppers, they’re a little weird and they don’t quite close all the way, so Jeff figured out he has to chisel out a little wedge for each of the hinges to sit in, so that the doors close all the way. It’s more hoopla than we wanted (once again), but he thinks it’ll all work out.
After some more play time and cheese noodles for lunch, this little drama queen was very tired and read for her nap, and very easy to get to sleep.
I took a solo trip to Walmart for a few random things… I was looking for a specific Pioneer Woman utensil holder my MIL wanted for her kitchen update, and I also found a few things I wanted for myself, like this beautiful tea pot, among a few other things! So I sent the photos to my husband, mom, sister and MIL, just in case they wanted to get me an early Christmas present to save for the next five months 😉
And you’ll never guess what I made again today… another red, white & blue jello poke cake! So Nita had already asked me earlier this week to make it for last night. Then yesterday Meg & Mama and I were texting about tonight’s dinner plans, Meg said, “Bo has requested Halie’s strawberry cake if dessert hasn’t been decided upon!” So I gave in and just made two cakes in two days!
And then we went over to Grammy & Papa’s house for our July 4th family dinner! We had lots of family time and play time and some of the people went swimming, and then we had the most traditional Independence Day dinner of hamburgers and hot dogs and baked beans. And everything was delicious!
Kensley is obsessed with Emerson’s backpack and loves wearing it around the house forever.
Forgot to take a “before” photo, but this is the “after” and everything still looked great.
Bo and I were trying to figure out where to set up for a family photo, so this was just a test shot, but I still like the photo 🙂
Another beautiful, delicious, patriotic cake! I guess this is now going to be my signature dessert! 😉
Ellie shared my piece of cake with me, and was so cute and funny, because after each bite, as soon as I put one bite in her mouth, she was immediately signing “more please.” I gave her mostly the fruit dipped in the icing, and she loved it so much.
Ellie and Emmie hugging each other goodbye, so stinking sweet.
Grandmommie has been saving tons of plastic bags to take to Growing Room (they always need people to donate bags for wet clothes or poopy diapers), and Emerson was more than happy to help carry them all out to the car. She thought it was the funniest thing, when Grandmommie loaded up her little arms with all of them!
I got her these new jammies on my Walmart trip today (as well as two new cotton dresses for me, a new pack of Moana panties for Emmie as a bday gift, and a small Pioneer Woman tea bag rest), and they’re adorable. They say, “You’ve got a peach of my heart,” and I could just eat her up like a juicy summer peach!
She was a good girl at bedtime, even if a little clingy and needed a few more songs from Mommy. We turned up her noise machine one notch higher than usual, in hopes that it would drown out some of the loud bangs from nearby fireworks, so she can hopefully sleep through the night.
All of us are super tired again tonight (these busy, long, holiday weekends are exhausting) and since it’s already kinda late, I doubt it’ll be very long until I’m in bed. Now hopefully I can sleep through the fireworks, since usually that stuff keeps me awake super late, since I’m a light sleeper.
