Folklore on Vinyl

Would you just look at these beautiful, happy little girlies!? Love them so much, and love them both in these pretty blue dresses.

Lunch at Raising Cane’s after church today. Emerson had a free kids meal certificate from reciting her Bible verse at Mega Sports Camp a couple of weeks ago, and she was very proud to get to use that.

Quick dance break in the middle of lunch, with lots of folks watching them just vibe away…

We all settled down for an afternoon nap, kinda scattered around the house, but Emerson specifically wanted to stay right on the couch so that Pennie would sleep with her.

After nap, Emerson was very serious about putting a billion water bottle stickers on her new 2nd grade water bottle. She might have gone a bit overboard, but she loves it!

Then we took Pennie for a tiny walk, got Emmie’s new backpack from the mailbox we ordered from Amazon, admired the freshly mowed yard, and packed up all the school supplies we bought yesterday.

I tried another viral TikTok recipe for dinner tonight, for “chicken cobbler,” which is basically just a dump version of chicken pot pie. (I made it from this TikTok, but found a written recipe here too to share.) I thought it turned out really yummy, but the girls didn’t really eat it, and Jeff didn’t like the peas & carrots, so it wasn’t a huge hit all around. But still, I thought it was really good! I also roasted some garlic at the same time, to mix up some garlic mayo for tomorrow.

I was washing dishes while dinner was baking, and Jeff dressed up in his beach hat & rain coat to move stuff around the backyard, in the rain, to hurricane proof before the crazier winds start coming tonight and tomorrow morning.

Cuz it looks like Debby is gonna cause us a few problems tomorrow…

But look how yummy this stuff came out! So golden brown and delicious.

For the past four years, my favorite Taylor Swift album has been “Folklore,” released in the middle of covid lockdown in July 2020. Although we had a record player then, I was only collecting cheap, thrifted records, so I didn’t even consider buying this when it came out. I’ve bought her newer ones since then though, and have been wanting this one. Finally found this original version/color on sale last week, and just had to order it & treat myself!

Emmie checked out my plants and said, “Mommy, I think it’s time to water these things,” and then took care of everything herself, like the grown-up little munchkin she is sometimes.

Dinner was kinda of late tonight, so we didn’t have a bunch of time afterwards before bedtime. But we still had plenty of time for Bluey and snuggles with our puppy girl. Emmie wasn’t actually asleep like this, but was certainly cute loving on her doggie.

Well, Tropical Storm Debby is slated to turn into a Category 1 hurricane by the time it makes landfall here in North Florida tomorrow early morning. Both Addie’s daycare & Emmie’s summer camp are closed, and so are all of the State buildings. However, my Bureau is considered “essential,” so we have to be ready to work from home to handle emergencies, so we’ll see how that goes with the storm & potential power loss and all of us in the house together… Praying it just blows through with lots of wind and rain and not much else!
