Emerson’s Rainbow 5th Birthday

Today my first, my biggest girl Emerson turned 5 years old! We had an amazing day today, and a great rainbow birthday party at Grammy’s house. We loved having our family there and Emmie had quite a few friends as well from both church and school. She chose the rainbow & sunshine theme, and it was perfect for my rainbow sunshine girl!

This isn’t exactly a Pinterest-worthy situation, but when Emmie came out and saw it, she said, “Oh Mommy it’s so cute!” And she loved it, so that made me happy 🙂

You have NEVER heard a group of kids ooh & aah over presents as this group did today. It was hysterical and adorable, and there was even some chanting a few times as well. This neon light-up rainbow was one of the things I picked for her at Walmart the other night, as well as the rainbow romper she wore before the party. She got so many other great things, but this is the only gift photo I took.

Grammy ordered the cake from Tasty Pastry, and asked them to decorate it like her invitations we gave out, and they did a great job. It was so cute, and we especially loved the gold glitter part. And of course you know it was delicious too.

After singing & cake & ice cream, the kids all played in the pirate ship and swing set for a while, and then everyone ended up back in the pool again to cool off. After all the friends headed home, the family stayed for a big dinner together. Grammy (with help from Meg & Uncle Keith) put together a giant breakfast casserole, with some biscuits on the side, and it was delicious.

We bathed all five girls in a rotation of a few at a time, and got everyone in some clean jammies and ready for bed. Aunt Meggie & Uncle Bo got Emmie these new jammies for her birthday, and of course she wanted to put them on after bath time.

We were exhausted by the time we got home, but Emmie still wanted to work on our puzzle for a few minutes before bedtime, and I couldn’t get enough of that super giant ringlet curl in the back of her head.

This water bottle was one of the other presents I got her, and she was so sweetly excited about her new bottle And this new glow-in-the-dark blanket was another gift from us, and she was so sweet and loved it so much too.

The girls both went to sleep super easily tonight, and even Jeff went to bed early tonight. It’s a little bit later than usual now that I’m finally finishing this post, and so it’s pretty much my bedtime now too, and I’m so ready for it, after a very busy, very tiring, great day today!
