Emerson Threw Up On Both Of Us

The say started off great, but has kind of taken a rough turn this evening, so I’m gonna keep things short & sweet here tonight…

I had initially set out a different outfit that was too big. So when I went to pick out something new, I gave her two choices, and of course she chose Moana!

And it looks like Emmie had a good day at school…

Today was actually her last day in the current class with Ms. Kristin, and then she will promote to the next big girl class on Monday. Ms. Kristin has been great this summer though, and I’ve been thankful for how much she loves Emerson!

Oh, and these chunky monkey baby girls turned five months old today!

At home after work, Emmie kept saying her tummy hurt. She took her shorts off for no real reason, and then put them back on again. And kept repeating that her tummy hurt, over & over again. She was a little subdued, but still playing, so I figured she was fine but probably just tired.

We made dinner and sat down to eat, but she wouldn’t eat anything (except one bite of broccoli cheddar noodles), saying over & over her tummy hurt. Normally when she says this, it’s because she’s about to fill her diaper, so I assumed that was the case. The other four of us finished eating, and while I was holding Emmie as we were cleaning up, she started making weird noises. I rushed over to the hardwood floor (instead of the carpet), and she threw up all over both of us, and the floor. (But mainly all over my left side where I was holding her.) She got upset and cried a little, because I think it scared her. We both got cleaned up (sponge baths), we brushed her teeth, and she said she felt better. She ate a few small bites of Cheerios, then she was acting normal and playing in the living room.

But then she threw up again a second (smaller) time, on the carpet in the living room. Luckily, it didn’t get on either of us that time. But then she was so sad and pitiful again.

I kept her up later than usual, just snuggling and watching puppy videos on YouTube, drinking ice water. I wasn’t sure if she would throw up again, and I didn’t want her to do it in the bed. Once I could tell she was super sleepy on the couch, we went back to her room. We skipped books and just did prayers and lullabies, and she fell asleep in my arms almost instantly. I held her an extra 10-ish minutes, and then sat in her room for a little while longer too, making sure she didn’t get sick again.

It’s now been right an hour since the last time, so I’m hoping and praying and crossing my fingers there’s no more to come. We will keep the baby monitor volume up high tonight though, so we can be sure to hear her if she needs us.

Jeff was off work with the boys today, and both of us were already scheduled off tomorrow as well. Growing Room will be closed tomorrow for their annual teachers planning day, with orientation in the late afternoon. But now it looks like we might need to steer clear of orientation tomorrow, just in case Emmie is contagious. Praying it’s NOT a stomach bug though, so please pray that with us!
