Elmo’s World

Today was Hayden’s 2nd birthday party! His actual birthday was yesterday but today we had a big ole Elmo-themed pool party with family and friends and lots of sugary treats.

We had our swim time, and then a big sandwich bar for lunch, and hung out for a couple of hours letting the girls play, and we just chilled inside during the afternoon rain storm. Then our family headed back home, had a little more chill time, and worked on the puzzle for a little bit.

Then we got dressed in some of our nicer clothes, and I did the girls’ hair in exactly the same style, with a half-up messy bun and a headband.

Then we drove across town to Kyoto for dinner. This was a celebratory dinner in honor of my new promotion! The news finally came out at work yesterday, so I can finally share here as well, my I got another promotion! It’s a new title, a new office, and a raise (praise the Lord), in the exact position I’ve been hoping and praying and waiting for. And I’m so thankful for how it all worked out! So I wanted to celebrate with my little family with sushi and onigiri and it was soooo delicious.

Addison stole Daddy’s miso soup, and demolished the whole thing.

I got the BOGO sushi deal, and shared about half of the larger roll with Jeff. We also ordered a couple of onigiri, and Emmie and I shared those too. And Emerson also had her own little tiny crab & cream cheese roll, while Jeff had hibachi and shared with Addison.

And Emerson decided we also needed to get an order of fried cheesecake to share, and this was really yummy too, but I was so full by this point, I let the girls eat most of it.

We were all stuffed full when we finished, ready to start on bedtime as soon as we got home. Both girls were super tired and went to sleep quickly and easily. I’ll probably work on my puzzle a little bit more before heading to bed myself.
