Daddy Daycare

Well since poor, sweet Emerson had a fever yesterday, she had to stay home from school today. So I got up and got ready for work, and Daddy prepared to stay home with her. I was out the door on time, and even made it to work one minute early. Jeff and Emmie hung out together for a little bit at home, and then he took her in to see our friend/doctor Abby at the pediatrician’s office.

Before I left, I laid out a casual outfit for her for the day, but Jeff said she wanted to keep the same onesie on from yesterday (that she also wanted to sleep in last night), and just wear her slippers to the doctor. And when you’re two, you can get away with it!

She didn’t have any fluid on her ears, so they weren’t infected. Her throat was red, but the rapid strep test came back negative. They will let it continue over night, then call me tomorrow with the 24-hour results. But it looks like this is probably just a little virus/cold, so we can’t really do anything to “cure” it, but just let it run its course.

Meanwhile, I was daydreaming about watching the sunset on the deck of a cruise ship with my hubby, and posted this gorgeous photo from our vacay last fall, on my Instagram page.

Then I snapped back to reality and ate another very “grown-up” lunch, and started a new library book.

Back at home, Emerson and Daddy ate lunch, and then she took a nice, two-hour nap. She wanted to take some more stroller rides around the house, and then she took turns just pushing the empty stroller herself. And she finally changed clothes into the Moana shirt I had left out for her! Haha 🙂

Jeff said she put her socks on her hands, and was telling him they were her “glubs.”

We made Trader Joe’s pesto tortellini for dinner, with their basil marinara (which I actually thought was kind of bland), plus a bagged salad, because duh. And garlic bread. Emmie liked the noodles a lot.

And then we did Play-Doh! I made a green leaf, and an orange bug.

Then after getting on her “cupcapes,” she asked for “brownie on da couch.” And of course I said yes.

Then she played for a little while, and was acting mostly normal. She’s a little more sensitive, and we had a few toddler moments, but that’s to be expected even when she’s not sick. She was being cute and silly, and we had some good family time before bed.

She read the book to us tonight, and actually did really well with all the sounds!

And look at these sweet little hands during bedtime prayers!

It took a little longer for bedtime again tonight, just because she wanted to be held for a long time. I don’t mind the snuggles though, so it’s A-OK by me. Her temp has stayed low all day, but then of course spiked a little right around 5:30, up to 101. So it looks like it’s my turn to stay home with her tomorrow, and of course I don’t mind that either.

I usually do dishes the write my lost, but tonight I did it backwards, so I’m off to wash the dishes now. Then we’ll finish a Netflix movie we started a couple nights ago, and then I’ll read before my own bedtime.
