Random Fever

Jeff’s coworker got this rubber ducky in Germany a few years back, and he sent it home with Jeff yesterday, for Emerson to borrow for a while. (Not keep, but play with for a bit.) I found it in his lunch box this morning, set it out on the counter, and as soon as I walked back into the kitchen a little while later with Emerson, she immediately saw it and wanted to hold it! Papa has already started her quite a little collection of rubber ducks, so she was excited for this one. She took it in the car on the way to school, and was lightly upset when I wouldn’t let her take it inside when we got there.

But she perked up quickly, and took a few goofy smiling photos for me! One of her little friends was also walking in while we were taking photos, so she got a little distracted, and that’s what she was pointing at.

Last week, we ran out of coffee grounds, and Jeff stopped to get us DD. This week we ran out of coffee filters, so once again, Jeff stopped to get us DD. Apparently I’m having some lapses in my grocery shopping lately! I’ll get it together one of these days…

And then because I’m a grown-up adult who sometimes eats like 12-year-old, I had a pizza Lunchable today! And it was surprisingly good, even better than I remembered or was excepting, honestly. I also finished “The River” on my lunch break, and it was so good. Four out of five stars. Definitely recommended for people who like suspense (but it’s not scary), adventure tales, or outdoorsy stuff. It’s a short 250-ish pages, so it’ll fly by.

Grammy picked up Emerson from school, and the family met at Willie Jewell’s BBQ for dinner. Emmie had some chicken and mac & cheese, but she was acting mostly fussy and very sensitive.

At church, she wouldn’t let Grandmommie out of her sight, so we walked the long way all through the sanctuary and around the side, but she still wouldn’t let her go. By this point, I finally held her for the first time (she had only want Grammy or Great-Grandmommie at dinner), and she felt kinda warm, like she might have a fever.

We had to get daddy and practically peel her away from Grandmommie, but we decided to skip church and head back home. She was crying and obviously didn’t feel good, plus if she had a fever, she didn’t need to be around other kids anyways. So we came on home, with her crying and asking dor Daddy the entire ride home. The only thing she wanted that would calm her down, was stroller rides through the house, so Jeff and I took turns pushing her around for about 30 minutes.

She fought hard at bedtime, and it ended up taking about 45 minutes from start to finish… Three rounds of lullabies, with both of us taking turns rocking & holding her, before she finally gave in and let me lay her down in the crib.

We are planning for Jeff to keep her home tomorrow, and I think he will probably go ahead and take her into the pediatrician’s office to see Abby. The last time she had a random fever spike like this a few months back (with a runny nose like she has now too), it was just an ear infection. So maybe that’s all it will be this time too.

Luckily, she did stay asleep all night last night, and slept really well. Big time praying for that again tonight as well!
