Cute Coworkers

As I was up and showering and getting ready, my boss texted me saying I could work from home today, since I was gonna have to leave early to pick up the girls from school for early closure. I was planning to work in the office in the morning, and then at home in the afternoon, but decided to stay home when the chance was offered.

So I put on cozy clothes instead of work clothes, and took the girls on a super early, super fast morning run to the gas station, since my gas light was on. We also ran inside to grab breakfast sandwiches and a couple fountain drinks.

Back at home, I had to sign in on my laptop, and for a little bit, I had some very cute tiny co-workers with me, doing very important business work.

Jeff went into the office for the morning, and the girls did pretty good at entertaining themselves for the most part while I worked. I took a lunch break and heated up leftovers for all of us, and we watched “Casper the Friendly Ghost.” I also got some time to work on my puzzle, before heading back to my laptop. Jeff got off at noon, due to his office closure, but unfortunately my Bureau is deemed “essential,” so we’re required to work through emergencies as much as possible. And since I’m a supervisor, I definitely have to be the one working.

But Jeff and the girls took Pennie on a short little rain walk in the afternoon, and went to Publix to grab a few things, and also picked out these two Rana meals for our dinner. They brought me back an iced brown sugar pumpkin shaken espresso from Dunkin too, and that was delish and much-needed to make it through the rest of the afternoon.

I was very much ready to log out right at 5pm, after a very weird day. I cleaned up all of our stuff on the dining table, tidied up the kitchen counter a tiny bit, and then started making dinner. And of course while I was making dinner, the power was flickering and even went totally out. It only lasted about 15 seconds though before coming back on, and I raced to finish up our two different pasta meals, just in case it went out for good. It’s flickered a time or two since then, but luckily has not gone out, even though I know there are pockets around town without power.

The girls were being super sweet playing and having fun together after dinner, while I cleaned things up and then went back to my very slow-going puzzle. They came marching through the living room laden down with backpacks and water bottles and Pennie, saying they were going on a trip together! Don’t remember where they were headed off to though…

But they celebrated their return with popsicles they got from Publix today. (Notice the multiple flash lights and the small battery-powered fans we have laid out on the coffee table there, just in case…)

Lots of puppy snuggling was happening when it was time to watch their nightly bedtime tv show, and sweet Pennie is just so patient and gentle with the girls, letting them do basically whatever with her.

We had a late bedtime tonight, but the girls were sweet and we had no issues, and they were both sound asleep in about three minutes flat.

When I came out of Emerson’s room after getting them to sleep, I walked into the living room to find Pennie with her head perched up on the back of the couch like this, with her ears still all perked up, looking so sweet and precious.

I haven’t checked the weather or radar lately, but I’m hoping things stay all nice and calm the rest of the evening here, and we can just sleep through a windy, rainy night.
