Curry Heaven

So one of our couch pillows busted a month or so ago, and we took it over and asked Grandmommie to fix it last night. (I do not know how to sew.) She did it while we were there & we brought it home. When Emmie saw it on the couch this morning, she literally cheered and was like, “Yay! Soft pillow party!” Then piled them all up around her, for morning cuddle times.

I had bagel & coffee for breakfast, and Emmie had a donut & pink milk, while Daddy slept in with a little migraine, and we watched some of Doc McStuffins.

She wanted to play in her room today, so I brought my coffee (and she made me some “mustard coffee”), and she did all the things while I watched and played and also read a little bit myself.

She even wanted to get in her crib for a while, and asked to play puzzles and with her clipboard in there, and then I really got some reading done while she occupied herself. She was being very sweet and quiet, and I enjoyed just being around her, both doing our own thing.

She had her leftover Whataburger cheeseburger from Friday night for lunch, and then went down for a nap. Jeff and I ate while she napped, and worked on some more chores. She didn’t nap long, and then she was ready to help out with some laundry.

It was raining super lightly while we were outside cleaning up the carport (it’s been a disaster zone ever since we started our kitchen cabinet project) and Emmie kept running out into the driveway to play in the rain. Jeff was then rinsing some stuff off, and she decided she needed to be sprayed, and have a little mini water day in her clothes.

She was freezing cold by this point though, so I got her in a warm bath, and she enjoyed playing for about 20 minutes, while I deep-cleaned the bathroom. Then I changed our shower liner, and showered myself while she watched some Blippi videos on the couch and Daddy finished up outside. She drew in my notebook for a few minutes, and was silly for a few minutes, and then we went out to get some take-out for dinner.

Jeff and I wanted to order from Bahn Thai, but they were closed today, so we settled on Bento instead. Emmie didn’t want Asian food, so we got her a happy meal. I ordered our meals online at 5:22, and it said it would be ready at 5:46. We got there at 5:52, and it wasn’t ready until 6:19. The food was 30 minutes late! So I just had to stand in there waiting for 30 minutes. Theyย were super busy, but it also seemed like there wasn’t a good order to things, and people were getting food all willy-nilly, instead of in the order the food was ordered. So that was super frustrating…

Jeff and Emmie had come in with me at the beginning, because Tater didn’t want to stay in the car, but after about 5-10 minutes, they went back to the car, where she ended up eating her dinner sitting in the front seat with Daddy, while I waiting on our food.

We took it back home to eat, and my bad mood was very quickly replaced by the happy food dance, because this stuff was absolutely delicious. Jeff got the Pao Pao spicy cream chicken white rice bowl (top), and I got the yellow coconut curry chicken white rice bowl (bottom), and we got one small Special Mex sushi roll to share. And everything was soooo good.

I actually tried a bite of Jeff’s first and was afraid I would have what we often refer to as “ordering regret,” because his was so good. But when I tried mine, I was in curry heaven. It was soooo good, but I could only eat half. So I’m literally already excited to eat it for lunch one day this week. Jeff on the other hand, “powered through” and demolished all of his.

Emerson ate all four of her chicken nuggets (and she tried sweet & sour sauce for the first time and realized she loved it), and all of her little bag of apples, and about half of her French fries. The girl was hungry today! We introduced her to a new movie on Disney+ tonight – Mulan, to go with our Asian food theme. I was singing along to the “Please Bring Honor To Us All” song, and Emerson was very impressed ๐Ÿ˜‰

While we were all three sitting on the couch eating dinner together, I leaned over and kissed Jeff on his upper arm, and Emmie said, “I wanna kiss his arm too!” So she leaned over me to kiss her Daddy on the arm. I said, “Emmie, that was so sweet! How did you get to be so sweet?” And she just instantly answered, “Jesus made me sweet!” After I melted into a puddle I said, “Yes baby girl, Jesus did make you incredibly sweet.”

Bedtime actually went much much better tonight. I told her that Uncle Bo & Aunt Meggie were going to make sure to arrive at school at the same time we were there for drop-off in the morning, so that we could all see each other and she could help the babies get to their room. But I told her that she had to be a good girl tonight and go to sleep sweetly, so that we could do that in the morning, and I think that helped straighten her out a bit tonight ๐Ÿ˜‰

After we got her down, we hopped on our weekly Zoom call with our Sunday school class, and spent a little over an hour sharing prayers requests and catching up a bit and diving into our lesson together. It’s always nice to see their faces and hear their voices, but I still really miss seeing them in our classroom every Sunday morning!

This little guy was cuddled up between us the whole time, getting all the pets and rubs and loves, and looking like Bat-Dog with those big ears all flopped backwards!

We have been doing a bunch of chores around the house this weekend, trying to finish up projects that we’ve procrastinated on. I made a list yesterday of stuff we want to finish up before going to Jax on Thursday, so we’ve been hard at work to accomplish that. We were able to cross off quite a few items today, and we’ll do more as time allows this week. But for now, we are absolutely exhausted, and it’s time to rest!
