Cuppa Cuppa Cuppa

(This post is for Friday, 10/16.)

Beautiful sky on the way to school Friday morning.

And this sassy tiny girl was very excited to head off to school, since she was finally going to get to play on the playground again!

I was surprised at work, to find this cute little faux cactus succulent on my desk, from my boss! And, someone else brought donuts in honor of bosses day, so I had two little treats!

And all those errands I ran Thursday after work, was to grab some gifts for our boss! I kind of took charge this year, and got the collection and did the shopping, so we got her gift cards to TJ Maxx & Starbucks, and this beautiful snake plant, just like the one I bought myself.

I went out to lunch with one of our newest coworkers and a new friend, Amanda, and introduced her to Chipotle for her first time. It was delicious, but both of us could only eat half of our giant meals, and took the rest to-go as leftovers.

I think you can see the excitement on her face, despite the intense squinting in the sunlight 🙂

After school, her friend Maddie was leaving at the same time, so her mama Allie and I stood talking for a while, and let the girls run and play, and they were so cute. Emmie gave her like five hugs, and when a truck drove by, she put her arm around Maddie, and said, “You have to watch out now.” They were precious together!

After school and work, we headed over to Nana’s house for an amazing pot roast Friday night dinner, complete with mashed potatoes, green beans, and wheat rolls. It was all seriously delicious, and I’m looking forward to having the leftovers for lunch one day next week.

We needed to get out for a walk after dinner, and Emmie wanted a ride in her princess carriage.

This is when she had to pull the horse over to the side in the grass, to let the horse get a quick snack.

After pushing it for a few minutes herself, she needed to get back in, so she could enjoy her snack on the ride.

Then this face was when she saw a dog across the street, and got super excited about it. They came over and let Emmie pet the beautiful golden-doodle, of which I didn’t take any photos…

After our walk was a delicious peach cobbler kind of dessert, the “cuppa-cuppa-cuppa” recipe from the movie “Steele Magnolias.” (Except Nita used canned peaches instead of fruit cocktail.) Soooo good and buttery and delish.

We got Emmie’s jammies on, and Nana read her a few books. And then she planned to spend the night and have a sleepover with Nana…

…so we relocated to the spare room, and Nana read another book. Emmie’s old crib mattress was set up on the floor between the bed and the wall, and it would have been super cozy for her.

But then she realized that a sleepover with Nana meant that Mommy & Daddy were gonna leave and go home, she got super freaked out and sad and upset, and cried a whole bunch. She didn’t want to go home herself, but she didn’t want us to leave. It was a whole ordeal. It was actually really stressful, and I might have cried some myself too. We finally decided to just take her back home, to sleep in her own bed.

It was almost 9:30pm before we finally got her to sleep at home (the bedtime routine at home was actually super quick with just one lullaby and then she was good), but after all of that hoopla, I was completely exhausted, and had zero energy to write this post. I fell asleep on the couch before it was even 10pm, but I’m glad to have gotten this written down now!
