Bagels, Chores and New Lights

(This post is for Saturday, 10/17.)

Emerson was up at 6:15am this morning (as usual really), and dressed before it was even 7am. Since she didn’t have her sleepover with Nana, she still wanted to spend the day with Nana, and was ready to go before Nana was even awake! She wanted to go out and check the weather, and did a little lap around the yard in her “new” shoes we bought at the One Week Boutique consignment last year, that finally fit her.

She then “doctored” me, and loved on her doggie, and flossed her teeth.

Then Nana came to pick her up! She got her her favorite sausage McGriddle, and girlfriend ate the entire thing. She played on the playground at Nana’s church, and at Nana’s house. They had lunch together, and Emmie took a short, tiny nap at their house, and she just had the best time!

Nana took lots of great videos again today, and Jeff had fun compiling them and making them all really cute. I love them! (There’s one more compilation one below.)

Back at our house… Jeff ran out to get us breakfast from Bagel Bagel. They accidentally messed up the order, but we made it work, and it was still super delicious. We ran out for our Walmart grocery pick-up order, and a quick trip to Home Depot. Then we got busy working on lots of random chores and projects around the house.

To continue updating our kitchen, we switched out this old florescent light with the waffle cover, to a sleek, much more modern, LED, almost-flush-mount kitchen light. And he changed the tube light behind the valence over the sink, with a nice bright LED light there too.

The light itself is also wayyy brighter, which will be nice once the time change hits, and it’s much darker much earlier every evening. It is also “color changing,” which just means we can switch it from bright white to warm white, but that’s still nice, because I think it’ll be good to have the warmer color in the summer months, and the brighter white in the winter. (I also washed a TON of dishes and cleaned up the rest of the kitchen, and cleaned up after Jeff as he worked.)

I also got in a few of my Amazon Prime Day packages…. This was about half of what I ordered… But I’m also like, halfway done with Christmas gifts already!

In that huge box above, were actually more lights for the house. So Jeff changed out four more lights in the hallway, after the two in the kitchen.

These are the old ones, that were here when we bought the house, and have no idea how old they might actually be…

We ordered the cool-looking LED Edison bulbs to go inside the new glass fixtures, but they were the cool white, and I prefer the warm bright, so we’re gonna return & exchange. But even with the old regular-style bulbs, the new lights still look so much better!

After a few more chores and random tidying up around the house, Nana brought Emmie back over to our side of town, and we met them at the playground in our neighborhood.

We had a couple of random errands to run around town, so after we finished that, we grabbed dinner on the way home. I looked up a few options that had “kids eat free” deals on Saturday night, and we ended up at Sonny’s. I was super excited for the salad bar, because I somehow completely forgot all about covid and the fact that there are no salad bar’s or buffet’s anymore… I still had a delicious pulled pork sandwich, but I missed my salad bar!

Little Priss had a nice, long 30-minute bath, “washing the walls,” and cleaning up and playing with her toys, and just entertaining herself so sweetly while I sat on the floor next to her. She needed to go straight to the bathroom after getting out, so I had to wrap her up while she sat there, dripping wet.

We got her some cute, clean jammies on, and she took a few minutes very carefully picking her two bedtime books.

She decided she was hungry again, so she requested to eat more of her chicken. She was pulling all the breading off, and when I asked her why, she said, “I don’t like the outside, I only want the inside.” So she was eating the chicken, and piling up the breading… And then she scooped up a whole pile of breading and threw it in her mouth and ate that too 🙂

But would you please just look at this little model pose she’s got going on!? She’s so stinking adorable, but she also looks more like 8 years old, rather than only 3 years old! This tiny tot really needs to slow down!

Bedtime was super sweet and easy. We chatted for a few minutes first like usual, and she was cracking me up. She was talking about her backpack and school and her friends, and she was like, “The one friend, she sits at my table… ummm what’s her name?” And then put one hand on her hip, and one pointer finger on her chin and tapped, and thought very hard, but could never remember her name. She then said, “Oh well, I’ll tell you about her tomorrow instead.” She talked about her other school friends, and which ones she hugs when they’re sad or when she’s sad, and it was so sweet and precious.

I finally got her quieted down for lullabies, and then “Jesus Loves Me” and she was ready to lady down. After a very busy day, I’m exhausted and ready to sit down and rest myself. I have to be up early to get ready for church, and I’m sure Emmie will be up early too, so I’m sure I’ll be heading off to bed soon too.
