Cousin Play Date

Of course y’all know Emerson was awake loooong before the sun this meonign, as usual. So we crawled out of bed with her, and lazed around for an hour or so, before it was a more acceptable hour to get up and out of the house. We ran by Dunkin donuts to grab some coffee and donuts for breakfast, and then went out to have a playdate with the triplets!

Megan and Bo were out of town at a church conference, so Grammy & Grandmommie & Papa have been on triplet duty the last couple of days. Papa wasn’t there this morning (and we missed him) but we had SO MUCH FUN playing with the baby girls this morning. They are crazy and so funny, and it was so great watching the four of them play together!

Ellie and Riley both took turns wearing cousin Emerson’s Crocs.

Grammy was eating a donut, and of course having to share lots of bites of all the little baby birds.

Let me tell you something, these blocks may look like fun, and really they were, but you are probably glad you can’t hear how loud this whole situation actually was. 😉

Uncle Jeff was hammering down a few nails that we’re sticking up, and the girls were so interested. So each of them had to have a turn helping him out, and hammering some themselves!

We told them they needed to rest for a minute, so they all went and sat on this little step, without too much prodding from us, and even as cute as it was, it literally lasted only 3 seconds before they were all up and running again!

Here’s a cute little video that Jeff put together to show some of the fun they were having. This doesn’t truly capture the audio level of most of the morning, as these kids are LOUD 😆

After playing outside, Emerson decided that not only she needed the snack, but that all the girls did too. So she passed out these little bins she found in their little play kitchen, and Grammy gave them all a few goldfish. they sat quietly snacking for about two whole minutes, and it was actually really precious.

I had done Ellie’s hair when we first got there this morning, and Emerson saw it and wanted me to do hers as well, the same way of course. So they both have the same little fountain on top of their heads today!

Grammy made all the girls tiny little pizzas for lunch, and Emerson was very glad to stay and eat with them. We got all the girls diapers changed and laid down in their beds for nap time before we had to leave ourselves. They have all been in quarantine for the last two plus weeks, and it had been at least three weeks since I had seen them, and I miss those chunky little girls! Hated that I didn’t get to see Meg and Bo as well, but hopefully I’ll see them soon enough.

Emerson took a tiny short nap at home herself, and then after quietly resting in the living room for a little bit longer, we packed up to go over to Nana’s house. When we went outside, we realized it was starting to sprinkle in the sky was really great, and we were surprised, because we didn’t know it was supposed to rain today. This was Emmie checking out the dark sky…

We went over to Nana’s house to play together and hang out for a while, and then have dinner together. Nana made beef stroganoff in the crock pot, with salad, green beans and rolls, and everything was absolutely delicious!

I settled into the super cozy recliner with a soft blanket after dinner, and eventually all three dogs came to join me. (This is Buddy, their little dachshund, who they adopted the same day we adopted pretzel, back in 2016.)

We stayed a little while longer chatting playing, and then headed home to get Emmy ready for bedtime. We did her whole usual bed time routine, with books and hugs and lullabies, and she went to bed really well for us tonight.

We got lots of chores we need to do around the house tomorrow, since we didn’t do anything today, and as much as I don’t actually like doing tours, I am finally ready for my house to be clean for the first time in a while 😆 But first, it’s time to rest and relax and then hopefully get a good night’s sleep.
