Church-Wide Lunch & Hosting Family Dinner

I started my Sunday, taking my turn to teach these five sweet girls a Bible story about the Ark of the Covenant, and praying together, and playing instruments marching around, and learning the verse of the day. It was super sweet and precious.

We had our big church-wide Thanksgiving lunch today with “dinner on the grounds” out in the parking lot under some giant tents. Addison slept through most of lunch, and Emmie ate with her little bestie Elly, and it was stinking freezing out there, but it was nice and still a beautiful day!

Both girls took a nice nap today once we got home, and that gave Jeff and time to do some of the deep cleaning stuff around the house that had been neglected lately, and finish the usual tidying up we try to do each weekend. Both girls were sweet and happy when they woke up, and we had some nice quiet time together with our little 4-fam.

She accidentally marked her eye in church this morning, and it seems it’s gonna be there for a day or two…

She grabbed the Bananagrams to play with, and found the letters to spell her name out all on her own! All I did was just spin it all around to take the photo of her with it!

And then Grammy, Papa & Grandmommie came over for dinner! I made my Mama’s recipe for Shepherd’s Pie, and I did a Greek salad and some frozen rolls with it, and it was all delicious. Grandmommie also made a cherry truffle-style-dessert, but we all dug in too fast & I forgot to take a photo of that.

Y’all know how obsessed I’ve been with the Olive Garden Italian dressing lately, but this Greek salad may be my new fave! I couldn’t stop repeating how much I loved this. I did diced red onion, diced orange bell pepper, halved cherry tomatoes, halved pitted kalamata olives, and feta cheese with a store bought Greek dressing, and it was soooo good!

Please make sure to notice tiny Addie in her seat on the floor, looking so adorable.

We fed Addison a little scoop of mashed potatoes, and girlfriend couldn’t get enough of them! She would lunge at the spoon if I wasn’t getting it in her mouth fast enough. She loved it!

They left just a few minutes before Emerson’s bedtime, so we didn’t that and got her in bed without too much hoopla. My Mama blessed me by washing alllll the dishes, so I got to just sit right down and hold my sleeping baby girl, without worrying about and chores!

I can’t remember for sure, but I think this was the first time I’ve cooked for and hosted other people since before Addie was born, and it was so nice! I loved having my family over and cooking for them, and just having special time together in our home. Now, it’s time to curl up with some hot tea and my favorite warm blanket, and rest a little bit before bedtime.
