Chocolate Croissants

Today was almost identical to last Saturday, a great summer day full of chores & fun & good food… These poofed up HUGE sitting out to rise overnight, and they baked up perfectly and deliciously.

Brewed a pot of coffee, scrambled up about nine eggs (it takes a lot of eggs for our little family these days), and then we had a great, yummy breakfast.

I sent Jeff and Addie to get our groceries again today, while Emmie cleaned up the living room (then made this bed for her baby), and I washed a ton of dishes.

Nana came over to hang out with us for most of the afternoon. We had lunch at the house (pizza for the grownups, lunchable for the littles), and Emerson helped Daddy get the pool ready for the backyard again today. Then we got both girls down for a nap, while we worked on some more chores and errands.

When Emerson woke up from her nap, I decided to start on a puzzle with her and Nana, while we let Addison sleep a little bit longer. My Mama gave me this New York City puzzle for Christmas, and I had been in the mood lately to start a new puzzle, since it had been a year since I last did one, when I was on maternity leave with Addie last year.

And then it was time to head out to do some “swimming” in the backyard for a couple of hours.

I absolutely LOVE these little ruffle butts!

When the girls were done swimming, Jeff took them inside and let me lay out in the sunshine for another 30 minutes or so, and I loved it so much. I love the warm sun on my skin after being in the water for a while.

Then I came inside and got cleaned up and warmed up and fixed dinner. And you won’t be surprised to know we made the “grinder salad” sandwiches again for dinner for Jeff and I, and a regular sandwich for Emmie, and a toddler charcuterie plate for Addie.

Addie was super tired, but I wanted to wear her out even more, so we went back to her room to play for about half an hour, until it was bedtime.

Emmie wanted to work on the puzzle for a tiny bit, and Addie wanted to play the piano for a bit, and then we got both girls to sleep.

Addison fought sleepĀ super hard tonight, but I sang Emerson’s lullabies to Addison, and that calmed her down in about 10 seconds, and put her to sleep in about 30 seconds, so that worked out great.

After laying her down, I spent just a few quick minutes trying to fit together a couple parts of the two taxi’s towards the bottom, and then lit a candle and headed on back to the computer to write this post.

I never did my pedicure the other night when I mentioned it, so now I desperately need to do that tonight, before I can go to church in the morning…
