Cherries & Crayons

Both girls had to be woken up this morning, but they were both looking super cute and very sweet in new Minnie Mouse shirts for the day!

Cherries were on sale this past weekend, so of course I had to add them to my grocery order. Then I just took the whole bag to the office with me, and they were soooo good.

Also, someone brought in these little Folger’s coffee bags to share, so I thought I’d try one out for my afternoon coffee break, and it was actually pretty good!

One cute picture of Addie from school today.

So around 3:30pm this afternoon, I saw East Hill scroll across my caller ID. I picked it up already dreading the worst, and the lady was so serious when she said, “Emerson’s fiiineeee…. Buuuut, we wanted to let you knowww… that Emerson and her friends got a hold oooofffff…. a pink crayon. (At this point I’m like OK AND?!) And before anyone noticed, they had colored her scalp right on her part.”

I literally laughed at the woman, and said something like, “OK thanks for letting me know, but ma’am, you were so serious and I was so afraid of what you were calling to tell me!” I told her that last year we got a call from daycare that ended in a couple hours in the ER and 12 staples in her scalp, so I was  GLAD for a call about crayons!! 🤣🤣🤣 I couldn’t stop laughing for about five minutes after we hung up. (Took this pic once we got home under the light, and honestly, you can’t barely even see it, it’s practically invisible.)

Anyways, I had put two of those slim Smithfield pork loins in the crockpot this morning, with a couple of quartered sweet onions. So at home tonight, I just made some steamed broccoli, and broccoli cheddar rice, and then everything was ready. And that pork was so good!

And then since Nana sent us home with leftover brownies last night, and we had a little bit of random ice cream in the freezer, we all had some dessert after dinner.

After dinner, I was scraping and rinsing plates, and putting away leftovers, and the boys were playing with Addie, and I don’t even know what Jeff was doing. But I couldn’t find Emmie. I walked in my room looking for her, and found her in my bed, reading my old Bible 🥹 (It’s falling apart, so I don’t carry this one around anymore, but she found it on my night stand.)

I still have some treasures and memories tucked in there from high school, and Emmie loved seeing those and reading some of my old notes. We went to watch an episode of Bluey before starting bed, but as we put it away, she said, “Reading the Bible is fun because it’s like reading a book, but it’s the real Holy words.” And just melted my heart! 🥹

Addie was of course all snuggled up with Ryan on the couch for our nightly Bluey episode, with Emmie tucked up snuggled next to me, and all of us were sharing a blanket together. And then both girls fell asleep quick and easy and sweetly, once we started their actual bedtime routines.

Jeff is actually off work the rest of the week, to spend some time hanging out with the boys, and doing some projects, and maybe a special activity. But that also means they’re all home all day, so I asked them to handle the dishes for me tomorrow, so I’m done for the night now. And praise the Lord for that!
