Candy Snack

When Jeff got Emmie out of bed this morning, and started to change her diaper and her clothes, she didn’t want to take off her puppy jammies. So I had to go make a big deal out of picking out a pretty dress for her (different from the clothes I had already laid out), and getting excited about, so she would get excited about it. And then I picked my matching dress to wear today, and she finally let Daddy change her clothes. This girl!

Let’s do some throwback memories from the last few years on this date…

2018 – just a regular day, but click here if you wanna see that post. (What’s funny is, I also did a few throwbacks on the blog that day too!)

2017 – Look at the teeniest little church-goer, from two years ago! She had fallen asleep between Sunday school & church, so Grammy just carried her into church with her. She quietly slept through all the worship music and sermon, and only peeped her eyes open like this in the last few minutes of the service. I just love the sweet little look on her tiny baby face!

We had out Thanksgiving luncheon at church that day, which she also slept through, but she was so incredibly cute in that little turkey dress!

2016 – Jeff and I went to the Apalachicola seafood festival with my parents for the day. What I didn’t know then, and what we found that later that night, was it I was roughly one month pregnant with Emerson! (Also, look at our living room panelling before we painted it, and before we painted that table in the corner. And my little Primrose!)

OK back to 2019… so I ordered and have been wearing some blue-light filtering glasses. There’s no prescription in them, and they’re not even “readers,” they just put a warm-ish hue on everything, which is supposed to ease some of the strain of looking at screens all day. I’ve had them for about a week, but so far I can’t tell a difference. I’ve just noticed in the last couple of months, that by the time I sit down to watch tv at night, my eyes feel so strained from staring at a computer screen (or my phone screen), for the largest chunk of the day. (Or maybe I’m just getting old?) Anyways, I got them from Amazon, and I feel cute and studious when I wear them. But they’re difficult to get a picture of, because of the glare, so here’s the best I could manage…

For lunch today, I had last night’s delicious leftovers, plus an apple, and read my library book. It was a good lunch break.

Emmie painting with her friends at school today!

After work, I was a few minutes late leaving, and then there was lots of traffic. And then after I picked up Emerson, it started raining on the way home, so there was even more, slower traffic, and we ended up getting home about 15 minutes later than usual, and it was like, basically full-dark already. And I’m still not used to it. Jeff was working a little bit late, so Emmie went grocery shopping and watched me while I made chicken alfredo and garlic bread for dinner. And then Jeff got home just in time for us to eat together.

(I meant to have a salad with this meal too, but apparently I forgot to add it to my Walmart order the other day…)

Emerson actually ate really well, mostly because we told her if she didn’t, she couldn’t have a “candy snack,” which is what she now calls everything in her Halloween bucket. But hey, the bribe/threat worked and she ate all of her pasta & chicken, so daddy helped her eat a mini Snickers bar, so she wouldn’t get her hands messy.

And then she was all about the daddy snuggles.

Dinner time was followed by bath time, and bath time was followed by jammies and bedtime.

Since she does better with bedtime if Daddy’s not in there with us, he was going to come give her hugs & loves and then go do some computer work, so we told her he needed to work. But she said, “don’t leave, stay home!” It was precious! So we explained he was just going to be doing work from the front room, but he would still be home, and then she was okay with that.

We did one night-night song on YouTube and kisses and prayers and lullabies, and then after we repeated the last song again, she was ready to lay down. I decided to blog first tonight, so now I have to go wash up all the dishes, and get things cleaned up. Wish me luck!

Updated to add – dishes all done, and trying out a new tea!
