Ginger Peach Tea

So I accidentally overslept this morning, due to a really bad sinus headache. I woke up feeling gross & groggy, but I slogged my way through getting ready, and we made it to school only 30 minutes late. This girl helped perk me up though, because she’s just the sweetest little thing in the mornings! (Well, all the time, but she always wakes up so happy.)

And we made it to school just in time to sit down at the table with her friends for breakfast. I love seeing them all sitting together, so calm and well-behaved, and waiting for the plates to be passed around.

Jeff had to pick up his co-worker this morning from the Mazda dealership on our side of town, and them take him back there on his lunch break. They stopped for lunch at Bagel Bagel on their way back (Ed paid for Jeff’s as a thank-you), and Jeff picked me up a sandwich too. He dropped it off at my office on his way back to work, and I read my book while I ate, and even though the sandwich was good, it wasn’t great. But that’s probably my fault for choosing a hot sub for delivery, rather than a cold one, which probably would have held up better…

Emmie had another good day at school, painting with her friends and being cute!

Two years ago, Emmie’s first school photos!

One year ago, Emmie went to vote with me!

Today is my parents’ 15th wedding anniversary (my mom was re-married to my step-dad Andy when I was 16, although most people don’t even realize he’s my step-dad because we’re so close), so they skipped church and went out to dinner. (Look how cute they are, eating dinner at Jonah’s in Thomasville! I stole this off her FB page.)

Which meant Grammy couldn’t pick up Emmie from school, so daddy actually got to pick her up! Then we met Uncle Keith, Aunt Suzanne & Grandmommie for dinner at Chicken Salad Chick before church.

Uncle Keith telling her secrets, about another treat they brought her. Super sweet.

Even though my voice is still scratchy and I’m still coughing a good bit, we still headed to church and choir, because I hate missing choir rehearsals, especially as we get closer and closer to the Singing Christmas Tree. (Little plug – it’s just over one month away now, on December 13-15, save the date on your calendar, if you want to come here me and 100+ other singers! Tickets are free, and I actually have a small little solo in a special ensemble song, so I’m excited about that! I’d love to see lots of y’all there!)

Jeff took Emerson home after prayer meeting (he’s more congested than I am, and could definitely not sing for choir), so they had a snack and watched some night-night videos, before starting the bedtime routine.

She was a bit clingy and needy tonight though, so even though Jeff was rocking her in her dark bedroom, she was still awake when I got home. She heard me in the kitchen and wanted to see me. So I took over, said our prayers, and then did our usual lullabies. Then once I laid her down & covered her with a blanket, I scratched her back while sinning “Jesus Loves Me” two times. Every night, as I carry her from the glider to her bed (after lullabies), she always “reminds” me by saying, “scratch back Jesus loves me two times?” And so I always say, “yes baby, of course.” It’s pretty sweet. ❤️

And now it’s tea time again, and probably an early bedtime for both Jeff and myself. (It says for “calm stomach” but I just really like the taste.)
