Welp, I must have jinxed myself last night, because this baby did not sleep in. She was up by 6:30am! So her and I had some quiet movie time really early this morning together, which was actually really sweet.
Then we had biscuits and scrambled eggs for breakfast, once the three boys in the house were awake.
Jeff and the boys left around 9am to go on a youth group trip to Marianna Blue Springs for the day, and Emmie and I left around 9:20 go spend the morning with Grammy & Papa!
We went to their house first, where Emmie found her old bouncy seat from when she was a baby. But of course she’s so tiny, that she still fits in it, and likes to just hang out in it.
We rode in the Jeep to the library, and had so much fun there! She went up and down the little stairs to the kids loft about 20 times, taking and bringing all the books. Emmie also kept forgetting you’re supposed to be quiet in the library, so she was running up & down the aisles, saying, “Hey, hey, hey!!!” And the three of us were just dying laughing at her.
I also checked out a few things I had on hold, plus I grabbed a DVD to watch. The movie is an adaptation of the first Louise Penny book in the Inspector Gamache book series (the blue book below is #10 in the series), and I’m excited to watch the movie.
Then we went to Sonny’s for an early lunch, where I feasted on a giant salad bar plate, and didn’t touch the side of fries we ordered to share, because I was so full!
Emerson was playing peek-a-boo with Grammy after we finished eating.
Pretzel was very relaxed chilling on the couch at home.
I cleaned the living room & kitchen while Emmie napped, and then read for just a bit before she woke up.
Once she was awake, I put on her headphones and plopped her on the couch while I vacuumed really quick. I didn’t want to do it while she napped, because I didn’t want to rush waking her up early! And then I finished tidying up, and it felt so nice. (Even if it only lasted a few minutes before books & toys were strewn about.)
We made a quick run to Publix for a few specific items for a new recipe this week, plus a few BOGO items. And of course Emmie got a cookie!
She also likes being helpful, and dropping things into the car as I hand them to her.
We also picked up our Walmart grocery order, and even though I was like an hour and a half late (didn’t want to wake my sleeping baby!), they came out immediately with my stuff, loaded it all in the car for me, and even gave me a little summer goody bag!
I got Emerson some of these little pouches, to see if we can get some more fruits and veggies in her, since the only veggies she usually eats, are potatoes, in any variety 😂 I haven’t ever really bought these, but Abby (her pediatrician) mentioned this is how she gets her kids to eat fruits & veggies, so I thought we give it a try. She had half of this one for a snack today (and really loved it!), and I’m saving the rest to go with her breakfast in the morning. This particular brand was 5 for $5 at Publix, so I think that’s a good deal.
I also found this new fruit in Publix, that I grabbed on a whim to try, and they’re really good!
Jeff and the boys got back from their trip around 5pm, so they got cleaned up and played a bit, and then after buying all these fresh groceries, we went out to dinner at Steak ‘n Shake, for burgers, fries and shakes all around. To be fair though, I never intended to cook tonight, because I wasn’t sure when they would make it back to town, so I hadn’t included tonight’s meal in my weekly menu plan.
After a quick bath time, I got Emmie in her jammies and ready for bed, and she helped out by putting lotion on her hands and tummy.
She tried to be crazy again tonight, but Jeff and I were a little more firm with her, and just didn’t allow a bunch of her crazy stall antics. There was still some fussing and whining, but overall much better than the last two nights. Jeff rocked her for about 15 minutes, but she still wanted Mommy, so I went back in and rocked her for about 10 minutes, and sang our lullabies. Then she let me put her down, around 8:15. Not too shabby!
The house has been tidied up again after playtime earlier, I have a yummy smelling candle burning, and I’m cozy in my super soft robe. Time to relax on this Saturday night!
