Book Lovers Book Club

For the first time this week, Jeff was able to get a picture of Addie before drop-of at East Hill. She’s had a bit of a hard transition there her first week, and and drop-off time is always rough. But then I know she warms up and has a great time later!

And I actually did not get a picture of Emmie first thing this morning. But she went back to puzzle camp today. We figured this camp, of all camps, was probably the most chill, and the best case scenario. There are only 11 kids in her group, and just one leader, and she figured she could handle it. Grammy is also friends with her leader, so she had already told her what happened, and she promised to take extra care of her for us. So she was nervous, but I dosed her up with all the meds, and she was ready to go, and she made it through the day!

I didn’t have anything ready at home to bring to work for my lunch today, but I didn’t know what I was going to do. Then about halfway through the morning, a notification popped up on my phone from Cava saying I had enough points for a free bowl, so that made the decision for me! I added my favorite cucumber mint lime drink, and so I only paid $3 and got my favorite $15 spicy lamb, avocado & greens bowl for free! I sat outside, and read while I ate, and it was warm, but really nice. And obviously delicious.

Nana & PopPop picked up Emmie from puzzle camp when it ended at 1pm. They got her lunch from Chick-fil-A, and then brought her downtown to my office. She spent about an hour there with me, eating her lunch and visiting my friends, and then Papa came to pick her up around 2:30, for her to have a sleepover with them tonight!

Meanwhile, Jeff, Addie and Dave & Nita, left on a trip to Savannah, to attend graduation for a longtime friend of the family. Initially, we decided Emmie and I would stay home because of camp this week, and their plan wasn’t to return to Tally until Sunday, but she’s leaving for GC kids camp out of town on Sunday, and we didn’t wanna risk the timing of all that. Now though, it’s probably even better that she’s not on a big trip like that, and in the car for so long, with her arm broken.

So, that meant with Jeff and Addie out of town, and Emmie with my parents, I was free to do whatever I wanted tonight! So first, I went to Paris Bahn Mi for dinner, since it’s one of my favorite places and I don’t go there often. I got my usual, which is the grilled pork bahn mi, and did some more reading of course, and it was so delicious.

And then it was time for my book club! We had cute, themed snacks, and coffee and pink lemonade. But most of all, we had great conversations and LOTS of laughs! I love this group, and I love book club nights! This was actually the second time I read this book – the first time I listened on audio way back in like 2022, and it was fine, but wasn’t a stand-out for me. But this time, I was way more into it, and liked it so much better overall! All of Emily Henry’s books are great though (I’ve read almost all of them), and this ranks right up there with all the others.

And then I came home to an empty house! Well, just me and Pennie obviously. And it’s weird. I’m pretty sure I’ve never spent the night alone in this house, in almost 10 years, and I hardly know what to do! Tomorrow morning is going to be equally weird, not waking up little girls and getting them dressed and ready for the day… But, I do enjoy a little bit of alone time, so I’m gonna try to soak it in!
