When it was time to leave home this morning, I told Emerson I needed to grab my keys. Then she started hollering about needing her keys. I was like, “But Emmie, you don’t have any keys!” But of course she did, because they were in her purse set Aunt Meggie & Uncle Bo got her for her birthday! So we packed up her phone and keys in her purse, and headed out the door. She was upset though when we got to school, because after she put on her lipstick, I wouldn’t let her bring the purse inside (didn’t want it lost or misplaced), and eventually had to trick her into thinking I put it in her school bag, but really I stuffed it down next to her car seat.
When we dropped off her bag in her classroom, she was concerned about the (imaginary) mess on the table, and I told her I’m sure she could help Ms. Kristin clean it up after breakfast time.
She thought that sounded like a good plan, so she marched next door with me to meet her friends in the other classroom.
Quick scooter update – for all those that were worried I would get hurt riding one, and need to be visited in the hospital, worry no more. They are all gone from my office! No idea where they went, but they were there when I left yesterday, and gone when I got there this morning. So who knows?
On this date two years ago, we spent our first full day at home after being discharged from the hospital, and celebrated one week of her tiny life!
This onesie and these photos are some of my very favorites of her, ever.
And then on this date last year, she was wearing an adorable green romper, and coincidentally, I was wearing the same orange dress I’m wearing today!
We still had quite a bit of birthday cake leftover from Emmie’s party, and I needed to get it out of my fridge & out of my house, before we ate the whole thing. It was SO stinking good. (Highly recommend Costco cakes, y’all.) So I had Jeff load it in his car, so he could drop it off at my office right at the door, instead of me lugging it on the 5-minute walk from my car in the parking garage. And when I got up here, I found our boss had brought a crock-pot of boiled peanuts, so today was snack day! (This photo was after 4 or 5 slices/chunks of cake had already been cut this morning; there was even more when I first brought it in!)
And I definitely got myself a cup (or two) of boiled peanuts throughout the day. One of my all-time favorite snacks! (And by noon, the rest of the cake was completely gone.)
I didn’t have anything to pack from home for lunch today, so my work friend Toni and I went out to eat at Chicken Salad Chick. I was craving that Lauryn’s Lemony Basil chicken salad & broccoli salad I ate last week, and wanted the exact same meal again, so that’s what I got! And it was just as delicious. But today, I got $1 off, for taking the survey from the receipt after last week’s visit. Score! (And I took the survey again today, for $1 off the next time too.)
Here are some of the photos we got from her school teachers today…
I don’t know what she’s doing here. But I DO know Papa has had conversations with her in the past about “not showing her goodies!” Apparently he needs to chat with her again! 😂 But those teeny tiny legs are so cute.
Oh and this memory popped up earlier too, of my sister getting her first car, a cute little black Jetta, 12 years ago, when she was just 16!
I made delicious coconut curry chicken ramen for dinner tonight. I wasn’t sure if the boys would like it or not, but I made it anyways. I made them both try 3 bites of it, to get a good taste test, but they both decided they weren’t fans. Oh well, more for me! They had last night’s leftover chicken nuggets instead.
After dinner, Emmie drew outside with chalk for a while with her brothers, and Jeff finished mowing the front yard. Then while I got the bathtub ready for her, she decided she would try out her potty. This was the first time she willingly sat down while naked, so I think we’re slowly making progress!
She’s so stinking cute in her new nightgown and slippers!
While I was putting away leftovers, she climbed up on the step-stool, and snuck a piece of naan bread!
She brought the bread with her for bedtime books, and ate the whole thing. Then she was kissing every single animal on every single page, while we read this book. Sometimes multiple kisses per page. I swear, she is just the cutest, sweetest girl!
Jeff finished the yard, I washed dishes and then he got a shower. We are going to do a little family devotional tonight (we want to try to make this a habit), and then we’ll have some TV time.
