Banana Bread

Since Emerson was having a sleepover with Grandmommie last night, Addison actually let us sleep in until 7:30. We had some breakfast, and then headed out to Grammy’s house to check on her, and let the girls swim for just a little bit.

Jeff swam with the girls, and I hung out with Grammy inside, in her back-surgery-recovery-recliner station where she’s all set up in the guest room. After the getting the girls dried off and dressed again, they played and ran around with Papa for a little bit. Then we left to let Grammy get some rest. We picked up Thai chicken noodles for me (I was craving this so bad, so I called in a to-go order), and Chick-fil-A for the others, and took it home to eat lunch.

Addie and Emmie both went down for a nice little two-hour nap after lunch. I read for a bit, then fell asleep in the recliner for a bit, and then washed up a ton of dishes. When Emmie woke up, she helped me with a couple of baking projects – we made a box of brownies, and a homemade banana bread.

And this little helper did the banana bread practically all by herself (from mashing the bananas, to pouring in all the ingredients, to mixing it all together and getting it into the loaf pan), and I basically just told her what to do. She was quite the little baker!

Honestly, I over-baked the brownies (the edges were so hard & crispy they were inedible, so I salved it by cutting out only the soft center), but the banana bread turned out absolutely perfect and moist and super delicious.

After doing lots more chores and laundry around the house, we ordered A-Town Wings for dinner, and Jeff picked it up to bring it back home. And this was another delicious meal today – I had just spent too much time trying to wash all the dishes this week, and couldn’t handle dirtying up one more dish for dinner…

The girls actually need a bath tonight, but it was thundering and lightning after dinner, and we don’t like having them in a bath when it’s lightning, so we just skipped it. Instead, Jeff kept folding more clean laundry, and Emmie and I reorganized two more of her drawers and pulled out the stuff that was too small. We actually just have one more drawer to go, but that’s just the jammies, so that should be easy, and maybe we could finish that up tomorrow.

We let them stay up slightly later, since their naps had been late and long today. But once we started on bedtime, they were both pretty tired and

So we’ll have a busy morning getting both of the girls in the bath, and getting ourselves showered too, but luckily church doesn’t start until 10am, and neither Jeff nor I are serving on any teams, so we don’t have to be there early, and then we get to just sit together in church, which we haven’t done in weeks! But first tonight, I need a good nights’ rest..
