Baby Soup & Pool Noodles

We had a relatively slow, lazy morning, and didn’t even get dressed until 10am.

We made a quick stop at Goodwill to drop-off some boxes and bags of donations, and then went to Dollar Tree for a few things, and for Emerson to spend last weekends’ tooth fairy money.

I made sandwiches for the girls, and a really good wrap for myself, with three meats, two cheeses, and about five veggies, with plenty of mayo and mustard. It was just really good.

We saw this “hack” to warm up the little backyard inflatable pool using black garbage bag, so we bought those at Dollar Tree this morning, and pool noodles, and I got it set up once the girls were down for their naps.

Then I washed up a ton of dishes, and diced up this little baby watermelon, and finished my audio book.

This is a brand new fantasy novel about dragons and dragon riders, and it’s getting a ton of hype in the book world. I got lucky getting the audio book from my library so quickly, because I requested they purchase it, and then I was the first one to get it. Because now both the audio and the Kindle have like at least a 6-month hold.

Emmie didn’t sleep very long, so as soon as she was up, she wanted to go out to the pool even though Addie was still asleep. So I made myself a delicious frothed iced coffee in the leftover Wendy’s iced coffee cup from breakfast, grabbed my Kindle, and let her play for about 30 minutes, until she got cold.

So she got dried and dressed, and we both did some Bible journaling together.

But then of course once Addison woke up from her nap, we decided to go back out in the pool. Unfortunately the sun wasn’t out long enough to see if the black trash bag trick would actually work to warm the water or not, so we’ll have to try that again next weekend. But also, please see how cute Addie is; she calls her bathing suit a “baby soup,” and I love it so much and I never want it to stop.

The water was really cold though, so we only last like 10-15 minutes. But it was thundering too, so we headed inside. The girls got in a nice warm bath for a long time, and then I put them both in Addie’s crib (to keep them safe and contained and entertained), while I hopped in the shower myself.

When it was time for dinner, I started listing food options, and Emmie chose Chinese. She had recently asked while driving by, why we never eat at the panda place, so I suggested that, and she loved the idea. I downloaded the app real quick, they gave me a 25% discount for my first order, so we placed a mobile order and then picked it up through the drive-thru. So it was quick, easy, discounted, and yummy.

I got Emmie her own kids meal, but Addie and I shared this meal, and she ate practically all of my noodles from me, plus lots of the honey chicken, which she loved.

Eventually, we put on their pink kitty nightgowns, watched Matilda the Musical, and cuddled for a bit before bedtime.

Both girls were exhausted from our busy day, and went to sleep quickly and easily. Jeff was actually gone most of the day working at his parents’ church (fixed up their new sound booth thing), but he got home around bedtime and the girls were happy to see him.

In addition to the dishes I did this afternoon, I also washed a load of my dresses (that I do on the gentle cycle and don’t dry), hung them all up, like literally 30 dresses, cleaned Emerson’s bathroom, cleaned the living room, did all the pool prep stuff, moved the patio table & chairs, cleaned the living room, and obviously all the other stuff and took care of the girls. So clearly, I’m exhausted now too, and I’ll be falling asleep on the couch in no time…
