Autumnal Equinox

When the sky looks this gorgeous in the early morning, I can’t help but snap a quick photo!

And sweet little Emmie-girl was a happy nugget this morning, especially when she got herself a blueberry muffin!

I had leftover pizza & cheesy bread for lunch, and started a new library book. I’ve been really excited about this one for a while, and so I’m pumped to finally get to read it!

I left work a couple hours early today, to go back for another follow-up appointment with the dermatologist. (Read about my initial June visit here.) The weird patch of dry, flaky skin on my inner-right-pinky finger is still not going away, so they said to keep using the same cream, but I need to be better and try to not subconsciously touch it. They also put a steroid injection straight into the scar on my chest, to help it flatten out, and redce the redness. Then I have to go back in six weeks for another shot. So I got another boo-boo band-aid.

The appointment was really fast luckily (like wayyy faster than I was even expecting), so I got to pick up Emerson from school much earlier than usual today. We did some quick shopping at T.J. Maxx for some birthday presents for a certain family member (we did not buy the puppy pictured below), and then a quick trip to Trader Joe’s. The plan was just to grab those frozen mini chicken tacos, but of course Emerson wanted a banana, and I also happened upon a few fall/pumpkin items to try, which was a perfect coincidence in my opinion, since today is the Autumnal Equinox! (Which is basically just a fancy term to say it’s the first day of fall!)

And here are the fall things I got today – pumpkin bread & muffin mix, fall pasta, “autumnal harvest” creamy pasta sauce, and pumpkin ginger mini ice cream cones.

Even with our shopping, we still made it home about 45 minutes earlier than normal, which was really nice. We had time to play, and relax, and do stickers, and share a snack, all before Daddy got home. And this tiny ice cream cone is soooo good. If you like anything pumpkin flavored, you need to get these! I wanna eat the whole 8-count package in one sitting!

While I cooked, Emmie and Daddy played in the front yard. And this girl in her onesie and mis-matched socks is just killin’ me!

We had the mini chicken tacos from TJ’s, yellow rice & black beans. Emerson loves all rice, but she really went to town on this yellow rice tonight, and did well with the taco too!

After dinner, we took a short family walk down the street, looking for the owl they heard hooting earlier. We didn’t see it, but we did see lots of other birds, and this girl really had the prime bird-watching spot, in Daddy’s arms!

We got Emmie in her night gown and she asked for another ice cream cone, so we shared another one. It’s so tiny, it’s only a few bites each, so why not?!

She was really sweet at bedtime, and was only slightly hyped up from the sugar. 😉 When we read the “Dada” book, we often change the name to say “mommy” or “nana” or sometimes “mommy-daddy.” For the last three nights in a row, I’ve asked her who she wanted to say, she’s said “Gammy!” So we say “Grammy” instead of “Dada,” and she’s been loving it!

I got the kitchen all taken care of pretty quickly tonight, and wrote this post sorta quick, because I’m excited to settle in and have cozy snuggle time on the couch with hubby. We started watching “The OA” on Netflix over the weekend, and it’s really good. There are only two short seasons (and then dumb Netflix cancelled it), and we already finished the first. I’m excited to start on the second season now though!
