Arepas & Tostones & Plaintains

We went back to Generations Church this morning, in order to hear Bo preach in “big church” today. The girls were excited to go back, and we also got to hear Megan leading worship on the praise team.

Oh and they had Shipley’s donuts & bottle Starbucks fraps in their little cafe.

Megan did a great on the praise team, especially when she led “Graves Into Gardens,” (that song starts at about minute-marker 18) and the whole song of “God You’re So Good” (around minute 27) had me absolutely sobbing, because the presence of the Holy Spirit was moving.

And Bo did such a great job preaching. I know he’s great with his children’s ministry, and I’ve seen him do that a lot over the years. But I’m always so impressed hearing him preach to adults as well. He shared a good Word today (his sermon starts around 56-minute-mark), and I was proud of both of them.

Oh yeah, and my Mama came this morning as well!

Since Generations is on “our” side of town where we live, I gave my Mama a list of restaurant options for lunch near us that we like, and she chose El Rincon Latino, which is a Columbian restaurant we love, that’s about two whole minutes from our house. They even put “Encanto” on the tv right above our heads, so that was a perfect fit, and the girls loved watching it while we were there.

I ordered the arepa mixta, Jeff got the Godzilla Chicken, my mom ordered my “usual,” the Pollo Encebollado, we also got two empandas and a cheese tequeno, plus kids’ chicken fingers & fries and a side of white rice for the girls to share. We came home with leftovers because we ordered way too much, but it was all so delicious!

Addie fell asleep VERY easily once we got home, then I was able to lay her down, and she napped for almost two hours.

After a little bit of rest and quiet time for the other three of us, Jeff worked on laundry and giving Pretzel a quick fur-trim, and Emerson and I spent an hour cleaning her room. A hurricane had previously gone through there, so it was in desperate need of some attention 😉 I really wanted it to be clean before we started trying to put away all of her new school clothes, and before she starts kindergarten. So we cleaned today, and our next project through this week and next weekend will be to start rotating out old/small clothes, and hanging up the new stuff. And the same with shoes…

After Addison woke up (we are actually purposefully skipping Emerson’s naps now, to get her ready for the transition to kindergarten), we went over to Jeff’s parents’ house, to have a birthday dinner for Nana.

Nana found this cute little photo of Baby Yoda devilled eggs, and decided we should make them tonight, because she knew Emmie would love them! So she had done about half of the work before we got there, and then we jumped in to help finish them up. Emmie loved helping make them, and she loved how cute they turned out, and she loved how taste they were! (It’s just tiny celery pieces, and whole peppercorns, if you want to try it out.)

After finishing the eggs, we had a little while to just hang out and play, and this 12-year-old Elefun game (that used to belong to Jeff’s now-teenage boys) kept them entertained for at least 30 minutes. There was so much laughter and giggles and Addie’s super-high-pitched squeals (which I love and think are hilarious), and just cuteness! (I tried to bring down the sheer “loudness” of the video below, but beware, turn your volume down 😉 )

This is the puzzle we got for $1 at Goodwill yesterday, and it was actually brand new, never even been opened. It’s a lenticular puzzle, meaning it looks like it moves or is in 3D. It was tricky because of that, but my girl is smart, and we got it done!

We had a little smorgasbord of Costco faves, with the dill salmon (and yellow rice) and meatloaf & mashed potatoes, with some broccoli as well. So good!

We put the girls into their jammies before leaving their house, and you know Addison fell asleep in the car within just a few minutes.

When we got home, Jeff got Addie some milk and rocked her to sleep, and she was out again very quickly.

Emmie and I picked out some clothes for her for the next few days, and packed her little backpack. Since last Friday was her last day at daycare, but school doesn’t start until next Wednesday, our whole family is helping out by all keeping her for a day or two for the next week and a half. Tomorrow, she’ll go stay for two days with Grandmommie at their house, so we got all of her stuff ready for that. Then I read a chapter of Matilda and let her color while she listened. (One of my favorite book bloggers / Instagrammer’s also encourages her four girls to do quiet things while they listen, so I wanted to give it a try with Emmie too, and she did well with it.)

I’ve gathered up a few other things we need for tomorrow for me and Addie, but we’ve got a few more things to take care of to get ready for another week. So once we get those things settled, then we can settle down on the couch to watch some videos from a few of our usual YouTube “friends.”
