Apple Chai

Addie was throwing a little fit this morning because we didn’t have time to put her hair in a tiny bun. So first, we got a picture of big sister ready for school.

And then to distract Addie before actually leaving, we sat down on the brick wall together and I talked to her calmly and asked to see her fingernails, and she was so proud to show them off, that she was instantly back in a good mood!

And so we still managed to get a sister pic! Today was college colors day at school, and we did good to dig out their FSU shirts again, and luckily they were already laundered and clean even!

And I made my coffee at home today, using the leftover from yesterday’s pot, like I do most days throughout the week actually (I keep the pot in the fridge, and it usually lasts a few days), but today it was nasty and literally undrinkable. So I made a stop at The Frother’s Daughter on the way to work, and I lucked out with the store being practically empty and super fast. This is the apple chai off their September specials menu, and it was very tasty.

And they had a good drop-off at school.

And then my work unit had a great lunch out at Olive Garden. This was our first month of our “odd month lunch bunch” with me as the “big boss” now, and our first month with my newest employee who was promoted last month too. Food was delish, and we had a great time, and Shanka got a free piece of pumpkin cookie butter cheesecake for her birthday!

I actually did this puzzle in just a couple hours late last night, all in one night. It was only 300 pieces, and they were big pieces, and it was fast and easy! I liked it, but it’ll be a good one to go back to the next puzzle swap.

The girls and I picked up Walmart groceries before coming home tonight, and Jeff took Pennie to the doggie hotel. Then we had pizza for dinner, and kept working to get packed up for our trip. Addie had made a mess of herself in after care (she put her blue popsicle in her mouth, and then rubbed it all over her face so that she looked like a Smurf!), and although they had cleaned her up some before I got there, but she was still stained, so they both had a quick bath together.

Then we put them to sleep together, both in Emerson’s room with Addison on the pull-out trundle, so that we could still move about and pack things in our room, without worrying about waking her or making too much noise. Luckily, they both fell asleep super quickly, and I even dozed off for a bit of a snooze myself.

But now, I’ve gotta go wash up some dishes and pack up my clothes and all the other stuff we’re gonna need for our little weekend away. We’re leaving in the morning to spend three days / two nights in Fort Walton Beach, for or annual Labor Day Weekend mini vacay. So, I won’t be posting for a couple of days here, and then I’ll come back with a weekend recap on Monday night. Y’all have a good weekend!
