Annual Orange Harvest

Another day spent at home, in covid-quarantine, so let’s just keep this brief, because I need to go finally paint my toenails that I never got around to yesterday!

All four of us went back to FAMU today to get tested (just in case, really), and luckily, and also unluckily for Emerson, she’s still the only one that came back positive…

I adapted the “TikTok feta pasta” into a crock-pot meal, and added chicken, as my experiment for tonight’s dinner.

After naptime, the weather was bright and beautiful and sunny, if not just a little chilly (but really not too bad), so we spent a quick hour harvesting all of our oranges. There were certainly fewer this year than the last year or two (by about a hundred), but we still picked right at 275 oranges today, from just our one tree! We always give these out to whoever wants some, so let us know!

Happiest baby girl in her cute pink hoodie! She loved being outside while we worked this afternoon.

First pic in the grass went well, then the move up into the wagon freaked Addison out for some reason. So Jeff grabbed her back, held her while Emmie had her own photo shoot, and then she was fine for the second round of photos in the wagon! (Also, I bought this sweatshirt for Emerson on sale at Old Navy way back in the summer, specifically for the purpose of this activity. Addie had already grown out of her orange onesie, so she’s wearing Emmie’s 3T t-shirt that swallowed her, but still looked adorable in it.)

Emerson certainly had the crazy face in these ones!

Since the blender has been out on the counter for a couple of days, she’s been asking to make smoothies. So today, I dug out the last handful of frozen pineapple from the summer, a fresh banana, and I hand-squeezed the juice from a couple of our oranges, added some ginger ale, and we had a really delicious drink!

We were playing in the living room for a bit, and I could tell Addison was getting sleepy, and she actually started to fall asleep for me really easily. So I moved up in the recliner, and she took herself a nice late-afternoon nap.

I switched Addison over to Jeff, and went to finish up dinner. I boiled a pot of pasta, and then mashed up everything in the crock-pot, made my quick, usual side salad, and everything was done and ready. And this turned out so good! I personally loved this, and Jeff said it was good, but didn’t love it as much as I did.

We had enough leftovers for three more huge bowls, so I put that stuff away, wiped down the counters, and then called it quits for now. Emmie wanted some Mommy cuddle times in our bed, so I let her play on her Kindle for a bit first, then we watched some of “Encanto.” Jeff and Addie played together for a while, and then he got her in her jammies and ready for bed.

Addison fell asleep after her last bottle super easily, and Emmie did pretty well at bedtime tonight too. I have a few minutes left in my current episode of Survivor, and then I’m gonna go grab my nail polish and get to work.
