You guys – the skies these days are just killing me they’re so gorgeous!
And this gorgeous little girl looks adorable in her new dress from Grammy, and her cute pink kicks! (These are some of the shoes we bought at the One Week Boutique a couple weeks back.)
Today, we actually made it all the way down the hall, and were at her classroom door, before she realized we hadn’t stopped for a muffin. So she shouted “MUFFIN!” and turned to run back to the front lobby, without even waiting for Mommy! Then she was a happy camper once she had her very own peach muffin.
At my parents’ house last night, Mama packed up a little lunch box of a few containers of leftovers for me to bring for work the rest of the week. So today, I had homemade soup (a mis-mash of Italian beef, veggie, pasta stuffs, which was perfect, because it was freezing in my office today), and she even sent me a Babybel cheese & Ritz crackers to go with it! So yum! I added an apple and a small pack of Oreo’s, just for good measure.
After work, Grammy and Papa went together and picked up Emerson from school, and the family met for dinner at Which Wich.
Grammy and Papa had to leave early (without Emmie), so Grammy gave her a small pack of M&M’s she had in her purse as a bribe, and it worked like a charm 😉
When we got in the car after dinner, she found a little bag with a few cookies in it from this morning. She was eating them on the way to the library, and told me there was a mess in her car seat. Here’s how the convo went…
Emerson: No, mess from crumbs. Mommy: OH, a mess from the cookie crumbs? Emerson: No Mommy, not cookies, mess from crumbs. Mommy: OK, sure mess from the crumbs only. Emerson: Yyyyyyyeeeeaaaaahhhhhh….. Mommy: Emmie, you know you’re funny? Emerson: Yes! Funny & tooty! Mommy: Oh you have the toots? Emerson: No, one toot!
This girl cracks me up, y’all!
So then Emerson and I made a quick stop at the library to pick up my holds, and we got a book for Emmie too. I’ve actually had lots come in lately, but I never picked them up, because I was in a reading rut, but I decided to get these today, hoping it’ll get me back on my usual reading train.
A nice library man even gave Emmie some stickers, and in the 10-minute ride from the library to home, she put all of them on leg!
And then we went to the airport to pick up Jeff from his training trip to Miami! We had to skip church to pick him up around 7pm, but we were excited to have him back home, so that more than made up for missing out on church tonight. Emerson absolutely loved watching the airplanes from the “observation deck,” plus, the sunset up there was gorgeous! And she was so, so super excited to see her Daddy come walking up!
(I was videoing when he got there & they saw each other, and I forgot to take a photo, but here’s a screen shot from the video…)
It was nice to have Daddy back home for the bed time routine, and Emmie thought it was nice Daddy had leftover M&M’s from the plane ride, that she ate while I read her books. She she had them twice in one night! Lucky little girl!
I did the normal bedtime routine and laid her down and left. But a few minutes later, she was crying and whining. So after we realized she wasn’t calming down on her own, Jeff went back in there to hold her and rock her for a little while longer. He just laid her down again, and she seems to be doing fine now, so hopefully she’s fine now, and will go to sleep peacefully!
I’ve developed a headache since sometime around dinner, and it’s not going away, even after taking some medicine. So I guess once Jeff and I get caught up and spend some time chatting, I think maybe I’ll try to go to bed early. Very glad to have my hubby back in Tally, safe & sound at home!
